Yes, but have them cite the law. My stated didn't want to give me a non Commercial Class A. They said I had to be a fireman or a farmer. I finally ran it all the way up to the state AG's office who initially said I had to be a fireman or a farmer. I then asked them what the legal requirements...
They're slowly being trued up. The FMCSA and it's agents are generally up on the regs as complex as they are.
All Regulations
Part 390
§ 390.3
General applicability.
(a) The rules in subchapter B of this chapter are applicable to all employers, employees, and commercial motor vehicles, which...
NO. Not really. Even they don't know the answer.
I'm REALLY tired of the BEATING THE DEAD HORSE crowd that can't even give a clear answer themselves.
If you're likely to result in a road side conversation with the Police then it's NOT A BLOODY DEAD HORSE.
Don't like the thread? GO TO THE...
The other thing is how the beds are attached. I could see a heavy pull pulling the bed up and off the truck.
Why not mount the winch to the frame, between frame members and add a fairlead to the rear of the truck AND one in the bed? That way you can have a rear facing winch off of the frame OR...
I would posit that a transfer case transmission design that will crack the housing when you shift into an easily set control configuration is a design flaw.
You should not, in general automotive terms be able to destroy something by just setting two controls. There should be an interlock or...
commander, I have 4 750+ mile trips on my deuce towing a load right at 10,000 lbs behind the truck. I have three trip report posted:

Commander, I think you'll be over the weight of what the truck can comfortably pull. My own move with the Dingo on a trailer behind was 26,200 lbs as it turns out. That was still slow but not badly so.
Think about your total capacity and what you're licensed for as well. You're talking mid...
Ok, so my duece has a double output PTO. Winch on the front of course and the rear facing PTO which is currently doing nothing. I'd like to start planning a dump bed and possibly a light K-BOOM crane. I may end up going with a smaller type crane having spoken to Squirt Truck about the...
When I added the second fuel tank to my truck, I mounted two spares in the bed along with a trailer spare. Front of the bed strapped down with ratchet ties to the bed racks and bed. I added a small hoist in the back of the bed on the right to make getting them in and out possible by myself.
It's fiddly. I broke down my trucks set of rims and just started one at a time. Take the time to clean the rims up and get any rust off them. Inspect them for any cracks too while you're at it. They should ring like a bell.
With the tire sitting down on the ground, make sure the rim itself is...
I would suggest the dual fuel route is the better thing to do first than adding more batteries to the system. There's just not a need for the extra battery system AND then you potentially won't be able to charge them properly based on the amperage available from the alternator.
I have...
It just so happens I have one of these rare double ended PTO's on my Deuce. I've been contemplating the addition of a hydraulic system for a dump bed and/or crane as well as hydraulic tools for some time. One of MANY back burner projects.
Mike, read closely. Non-commercial includes the RVs. It's not limited to them.
Just like there's a class C drivers license, there's a Class C Commercial Drivers license (like a cab or a limo). The same is for a Class A or B.
