I believe that the ring deformation is an issue not if the ends aren't twisted but rather if they're bent outwards. If you lever them outwards too much you can make them not want to properly latch into the groove.

For me, getting the ring back in has been usually a bit...
So I wonder how much money the taxpayers of Illinois were cheated out of this 'thorough' police inspection.
Things like this make me dislike those sorts of states and those sorts of attitudes by the police.
If they can't look at the friggen data plate and manual and INSIST that it's a 50,000...
Mike Pop, thanks for the offer. I'll probably be rebuilding these ramps at some point in the future, but right now I'm going to stick to the basics and the MV tail lights I have for now. the cost of the housings plus 4 lights and wiring would be more than I want to spend. I have to worry about...
So this is the current setup of the lights on my Trailer.
I've had a friend following me and he's reported that the trailer lights are hard to see. I have LED bulbs in the outside lights which are both turn and brake functions. The inside MV lights also work for brake and turn functions as well...
Love the details on the stowage boxes also being steps and the mount for the vice having a pin to swing it out for access or stow it away. Very fancy.
I like the idea for the stowage of the fuel cans under the bed that way too.
Be sure, when working on these rims to at least wire wheel the rim and the ring to clean any rust off and to clean them up a bit. If you really want to be detail oriented, give it a shot of primer/sealer to minimize rusting.
Wow, so they do!

Searching for "Military specification" yields a lot...
One of the other issues you'll run into that I've seen is quite valid is the shape of the underside the vehicle.
On a deuce you have big axles and other parts of the under carriage that get stuck on the mud as you sink down into it. If the mud has LOTS of stiction, you have to not only push...

9.5 mpg a year and a half coming back from PA to Ga. All up weight with the trailer was 26,000 lbs. So, I figure I'm doing pretty good. I need to see what singles has done. I can run slightly higher speeds OR run at 55 and not be quite so much...
Hack does not equal 'hack job'.
Hacks are where you make a change that works better but just never gets implemented by the manufacturer. They can be simple or very complex.
Did you guys see the 1:10 scale model someone's building? Looks like he replicated the tube frame, the differentials, the transmission and the other details. Pretty cool.
The elbow is a "hack" to keep the mushroom from easily ingesting water and snow. It sheds water more easily when sitting or running and you don't have as many problems with the filter getting wet or clogged.
