    Post your cucv pics here

Took the kids to the local Nike Missile Base SF-37, nothing left to see except scenery... As the wikipedia article entry says, they did a very thorough job removing any trace of it. Definitely want to keep the M1009 green (actually return it to NATO 3-color) - tan is out.

    New M1008 Project

What is the glow plug fuse for? I was reading into your information to assume that the "glow plug fuse" you put in was the positive feed for the glow plug relay to supply the plugs themselves. Is that correct?

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

Indeed - I had missed it before but that picture you posted is looking into the back of two un-crimped plug terminals :jumpin:. that anderson plug should pull apart at the half-way point, then you just need to remove the two terminals crimp them to a cable set and re-insert them :)

    Cucv upgrades.

I'm going to guess it's the same reason I'm not doing LED on the M1009 - cost. I'm doing an H4 upgrade with a custom high power headlight harness for just a bit under $100 - that's half what the cheapest reputable single LED fixture goes for today... cucvrus also comes across to me as the type...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

Got some good rain today (~1" in one hour) - seems that despite the excessive silicone caulking job around the rear cap windows the whole thing leaks like a screen door... :shrugs: There was a pool of water in the forward footwell that had run from the rear of the M1009 to the front (parked...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Added transmission fluid as is my routine (weekly) due to slow class 3 leak on the HP hard line ot the cooler. Building a custom heavy duty headlight harness to install when I return to the OEM 24/12V system.

    H4 Headlight Conversion Issue

J.W. Speakers are polarity protected - if the wiring is not correct, you will have no light (not reduced light). It's pretty easy to build up a harness to convert the packard plugs to the H4 plug - the one blade slot that is horizontal (perpendicular to the other two slots) is always the...

If you're using a browser on an Android device, it behaves like a desktop computer - the only difference is the type of file browser window that pops up for picking photos. I do it frequently this way as I chose not to use Tapatalk

When you open a thread to read, do you see the composition box at the bottom of the page with this little icon? If so, give it a click and you'll be presented with this box: You can click on the "from computer" tab and that will pop up a file browser: This click the "Upload File(s)"...

    H4 Headlight Conversion Issue

TMG sells AutoPal brand headlights like what I bought for my M1009 (different model of course). They are glass lenses with a metal reflector bowl. Very durable. [thumbzup] I recommend OSRAM Truckstar Pro bulbs over the AutoPal/Hella H4's that are more common in the USA - have to import them...

    Block heater making noise

For some additional automation, you can use a remote bulb thermostat from commercial/industrial HVAC&R after the timer to stop your block heater from running if it's warm enough overnight to not need it in the morning.

    New M1008 Project

The "model" I presented is simplified, as dynamic systems are significantly more difficult to explain without first understanding the simpler model. For your peace of mind, the battery's ESR, chemical reaction rate (due to battery design and chemistry), and temperatures all come into play...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yup, CDR (Crankcase Depression Regulator) pushes crankcase vapors into the intake for combustion by the engine. Like a PCV valve in a gasser, it vents the crankcase but not to the open atmosphere. That said, the condition of your rings will have a vast effect on the soot deposits in the oil...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Check your CDR valve. When those let go, they don't pull the blow-by out of the crankcase, leading to higher deposits of soot in the oil  May take a few changes to clean out what was left also.

    New M1008 Project

Take a moment to read this page - the main website and all of its sub-pages are probably one of the better car electronics pages on the internet IMHO. There are some basic rules one should follow when dealing with Automotive DC power: Size the circuit wiring by the length and load. Wire...
