Actually, I looked at the manual closely. the .3 distance is the pad AND shoe. I need to measure again. I do have one that's slightly oily (looks like VERY old oil) and I think I was able to lock up all four wheels in the back on braking so perhaps it was slowly drying out. We'll see.
So I started in on the converting my M35 to singles. I'm stuck now because I need to get the brakes relined on the shoes. I put a dial caliper on them and they're right at and under .3".
I had a hub put back together and Clint asked about brake shoe thickness and I checked it in the inspection...
RE: Trip to Shirley
Dunno. If we don't have a pickup truck borne person, I'll have to take the deuce down. (assuming I have tires and the singles conversion done by then). Most likely we'll be taking two vehicles I expect.
Several of us are looking at going down to Shirley's surplus on the 9th. I went down today and looked around. Lots of parts on trucks. LOTS of winch trucks and disassembled trucks in various stages. I think I want to pick up a few tires from James so I have some spares. He had a few very good...
RE: Any going North
I'm also curious about these. My S280 Project would like to have power over and above shore power and some deep cycle batteries in two sets of two (parallel and series) would give me lots of amps and the ability to charge the batteries then shut the gen set down and then...
RE: Re: RE: Surplus Yards in Ga?
Ok, James Shirley isn't there this saturday. They're closed because he'll be out of town. We'll have to move the group visit to next saturday.
Sat Dec 9th vs Sat Dec 2nd. I might still go down on friday just to get a preliminary reconnaissance. If I see good...
Not really, because everyone spent millions of dollars going through code fixing everything and people's jobs were on the line to fix it. The fact that things didn't go nuts is testament to the good skills of a lot of programmers who didn't use double digit date codes AND to those that went...
I have set of chocks (2 pair in fact) from Northern Tool for the Duece. For the Dingo and Ferret, I have some 2x6's that are nailed/bolted together with a 45° cut on them for chocks. A piece of Sisal rope run through them is useful for keeping them in pairs. Make it long enough so you can block...
An amp meter would have to either have a CT around the main battery Positive feed OR be between the battery and the load on the electrical system to measure the flow of current. As Bjorn says, the gauge in question is a volt meter.
I've driven several carriers with my group 15th Recce. One of the partners in the Humber restoration had a carrier he restored that came out of a bank in Canada. The Canadian and British Carriers ALSO have a Ford Flat Head V8 it's pretty much standard for them. The Windsor and T16 carriers...
For blasting media go with something that doesn't have silica in it. I've been using dupont star blast from a local abrasives supplier and it's quite good and very fine. It flows in my siphon feed unit nicely.
