    Camper/Motorhome Conversion Thoughts

Joaquin, you gonna get leopard print cushions?

    encircled star

Ahh the '8th Luftwaffe'. More of a danger to it's own than to the Germans. They kind of showed that in Kelly's Hero's. Funny now, but not so much then. Blue on Blue being a very sad thing. :(

    encircled star

Circles are distinct from crosses. When it comes to recognition symbols you want something that's VERY distinct. White stars were even possibly confused with Red Meatballs when it came to split second shoot no shoot situations. Note British/Commonwealth vehicles ALSO used white stars after the...

Flipping hubs on M813 - are in/out wheel bearings the same?

RE: Flipping hubs on M813 - are in/out wheel bearings the sa What tires are you putting on them? If you're singling it out with 14x20 tires I don't believe you need to flip the hubs.

    Camper/Motorhome Conversion Thoughts

I've been thinking about an S280 for this same idea. My general thinking is along the lines of the following: 2KW Honda Genset up high on the back rear or on a movable mount that puts it on the roof. Perhaps a movable exhaust hose that way I can put the exhaust down stream. Flat custom...

    Winch cable.

If you're looking to get new cable, think about some synthetic winch rope. Amsteel Blue makes some excellent cable but it's not cheap. However, given that it will float, doesn't store nearly as much energy and can be easily handled and rigged through blocks, it beats the stuffing out of the wire...

    Hydraulic power unit?

What you need is a surplus diesel engine and a hydraulic pump (2 stage?) that you plumb into your system. Run EITHER the Truck to run hydraulics or the APU. You could run the coolant lines to the radiator for the truck and use the APU to warm the truck engine prior to start up and it would...

Whats in your deuce for on the road spares???

For me it's mostly tools. Spare belts sure. Some hoses are next to toss in a bin. Having a place to put all the tools AND spare parts is a problem. Considering I haul 3 tonnes of armor and all my re-enacting kit when I go. Off the top of my head: 2 gallons of oil 2 gallons anti freeze 4 jerry...

truck with step deck?seven vehicles coming from baltimore MD

RE: truck with step deck?seven vehicles coming from baltimor Hot rod, a side question on your Ferret. Are you up on how the gear box works and how to use it? IT does NOT drive like other manual boxes at all. There's a trick. I can give you the run down at some point (or teach you on my Dingo or...

    Ferret price

I bought mine in the US for $17,600. Mine had everything BUT a dummy gun (FN MAG Mounting) and a few bits of kit. But it was complete with wireless sets (non functional), operating intercom, good tyres, good engine major or moderate faults and in good running order. For one that needs work...

    Hydraulic power unit?

What you're thinking is an APU in other words. Something tapped into the hydraulic system as an alternate source of power/pressure.

M813-A1 dump conversion. Will my idea work?

Sounds like it should work. Where'd you order the hinges from?

Borrow a tow bar for a weekend ?

That would be why a second set of shackle mounts would be useful. Attachment points for safety chains.

Borrow a tow bar for a weekend ?

RE: Re: RE: Borrow a tow bar for a weekend ? seems like the biggest things are the castings. There are several companies that cast new tow rings that are designed to be welded to other fixures. This'd be the starting point I think. http://www.wallaceforgecompany.com/catagory.php?catid=13...

Two words. White Elephant. The strainer, not the truck.

    Fuel strainer question

IT seems like a civilian or standard M35A2 type fuel filters would make more sense from both a standard parts standpoint and from a utility standpoint. It doesn't sound like that other filter system was such a good thing.

    Being on the road

I found that on my trip To and Back from PA, I was quite depressed at the prospect of the long and boring trip. As I got on the road and got further along, my spirits lifted more. Shorter trips are not however very worry some anymore after 18 hours in 2 days in the deuce. Having a second fuel...

    XM983 idea

RE: Re: RE: Re: XM983 idea What's wrong with making the front axle steer? The linkage is pretty straight forwards. You'd have to go with a new set of control arms shorter for the right ratio, but you could add either a single or a double set of links from the front wheels up to the frame and...
