While that turbo has been widely claimed as from an LDS-427, I found a manual indicating that it was acutally an early LDT turbo. I don't have the info right at hand, though.
I agree that is sounds like BS.
Water mains in rural SD are PVC. But, we bury them well deep (~7 feet). Your's would have to be very shallow to be susceptible to damage.

This is not entirely true. The internal combustion engine "bible" by Taylor indicates that high compression ratio alone is sufficient to enable multifuel capability. The MAN combustion is probably just icing on the cake.

You don't have to remove the nozzle to replace the o-rings. Remove the lower part of the air filter canister and there is plenty of room. It is best if you have the o-ring ready as the parts can drop out. I had a piece of wire which I used to temporary retain the innards.
