I've installed two manufacturer's spin oil filter kits: westfolks and tie6044 (in the classifieds). They were about the same price. The tie6044 adapter appears similar to the JATonka and very nice quality. However, I was dissapointed with the quality of the westfolk adapter. The machine work...
I'm not an expert but I've spent years behind the wheel of a 302 powered vehicle. It IS popular with the vintage hot rod crowd because it competed with the flathead ford V8. As far as "tremendous" power..... Well, I would disagree. I has miserable siamese ports and four main bearings. There...
I have used 235 distributors with success. I converted my prior M35 gassers to civvy distributors and never looked back. You can keep it 24V if you use enough ballast resistors.
You can convert HEI distributors to fit. Mallory also makes (made?) unilite and dual poiint disributors for that...
If there is 1/8" of slop, new bearings alone probably won't correct the situation. I removed a 2 to 5 thou of shims to tighten visuably noticable vertical play in the pinion.
Unless your pinion bearings are damaged, is there any reason that you can't simply remove shims to restore the preload? You wouldn't replace loose wheel bearings if you could simply tighten them up, would you?
Has anyone really thought about this or is this just wild speculation?????
You are taking a 12 Volt alternator and connecting it to a 12V battery. Why would it cause "MASSIVE" imbalance? This will improve balance.
I had a defective balancer causing a slight shake. It is not a big deal. A standard balancer puller just barely fits.
I don't believe that thread sealant is necessary on the balancer bolt as it fits into a blind hole in the crank. The more likely path is through the keyway.
These threads come up every week. Guys, your neighbors are entirely within their rights to expect that the law is upheld. Childish retribution will only get you in further trouble, make you look like an idiot, and hurt your cause. Focus on changing the ordnance (or your preferred interpretation).
I couldn't get out of the driveway with my 900s. I lowered the air pressure until I had substantial squat and drove right out. Be careful when airing them back up. Keep your body parts out of the path of the lock ring.
I understood that and the coolant was replaced. It looked more like there was a short circuit between the actual element and the copper housing as it burned a 1/8" hole through through the housing.
I installed the block heater, refilled the coolant. It sizzled for a second or two and made a popping sound......
I guess that there could have been an air bubble in the water pump but I am still a bit surprised (and disappointed) at how short lived it was.
My truck has had the 331 and 400 gas engine, and now the multifuel. A few of the gasser shortcomings can be easily remedied. The hot start can be fixed by using a better carburetor (Holley 320 cfm economaster) and a 12V armature spins it ove much faster. Electronic ignition and a civilian...
I bought a set of used tires. Two of which have deep tread cuts and more minor sidwall damage. One of the two still has a bolt stuck into the tread. How concerned should I be about being able to safely use the tires?
This will be my last post, I promise.
I agree that a vacuum pump is not EXACTLY the same as an engine. The vacuum pumps that we use do not have any one way valves (turbo, diffusion, cryo, roughing, etc).
Let's look at the case where the intake is open, exhaust is closed, and the piston is...
