looks like ive found my thing that kills my deuce trip/vacation plan, alternator took a dump about 5 miles into a post maintenance test drive yesterday evening, tried again this morning and it was still dead after cooling off, just verified battery voltage at the exciter wire so its borked
yea im aware of the limited belt wrap and plan on keeping an eye on it, waterloo claims it works with these green gates belts so ill give it a chance. got it filled up, burped, test driven and its all happy and not pissing on the ground so im happy, got 7.5 gallons in so i must've had it just...
nearly done servicing the belts and cooling system/installing ac compressor, the brackets in the waterloo kit work fine but the hardwear is nearly useless at least on my truck, half of the bolts were too long or too short and if i spaced it as directed the belt alignment would've been way wrong...
yep for roll and swivel, was $80 plus tax https://www.lowes.com/pd/Metaltech-3-8-ft-x-23-in-Rolling-500-lbs-Steel-Portable-Scaffold/3915158 theres a couple slightly different ones around at the various home centers, nice and stable even with large ass on it
haven't put it back together yet but...
doing my hoses and installing a new (not smashed by the hood and soldered up radiator) and don't think the green stuff was doing it's job by the crusty goodness of the distribution pipe nipples. also suggest the little scaffolding unit from lowes or depot for handy access
i converted mine to air, it's a simple unbolt and bolt in swap if you ignore the fact it weighs almost 600 pounds, once you get past that T into air under the dash, add a switch then run a copper line down to the piston, a handy engine crane and a furniture dolly do most of the hard work.
mine...
played around with my spare little now that it's not holding the truck up anymore, weighs 340# with aluminum rim and tire worn to the bars vs 430# for steel rim and new tire, same adapter and beadlock insert.
shoved it under the truck and winched it up into the pocket and with a adapter to...
finally got my 395 swapped from when i got t-boned a while back and the rr had a 6" hole torn in the sidewall, it was as big of a pain as i expected, the face came off easily with a high lift jack, did it that way once before to change a o-ring, using 2 crowbars get it up enough to slide in...
last i checked a year or two ago the update at the time had said a good bit of scavenging had been done, i remember no pics of said plundering so no clue if it was true but that would be a further insult to the story
would be nice to see what prevents me from coming to this function, couple years ago mom broke her ankle a couple days before, last group meeting a camaro t-boned me the day before the parade. i'm down for whatever but also am voting a spy satellite deorbits and smites my truck within 72 hours...
they are all hooked up but the right box had not been opened in a long time from the rust build up so ill bank they were feeding the pump via the left one, haven't done anything with it since i oiled down the landing gear heavily and pushed it into the side yard with my bobcat, partly due to too...
if the springs are durable enough to last more then a few cycles looks good and simple too, i was thinking something like these https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200316067_200316067 easy to build as its just box tubing, garage door springs and cable/hardware, it should be tuneable...
we had a hotshot kid out of "isuzu school" show up at our gmc dealer who was gonna show us old farts (me and the only other diesel tech) how to work on them duramaxes! not sure what they taught him but it wasn't how to work on the fuel and emissions systems of a 6.6, the pinnacle of his...
had a reasonably uneventful recovery other then the fact it had been stationary for many moons and i had to beat the landing gear lock handle out to raise the gear, guy told me it was the fuel tank (still has a few inches of red diesel in it) for a stationary water pump for several years till...
