I installed one of these on my 5 ton. No bounce-its rigid. The kit comes with a bolt on gusset-strap (look close and you can see it on front of box). Make sure you have these installed.

The probable cause was how the road was laid. Expansion joints may have been close to the wheelbase of your truck. That coupled with a vehicle equipped with stiff springs for carrying a load.
Two solutions-dint drive that route or if you do, put some weight in the back.

I am not a welder but am learning. I have a 120 volt Millermatic 211 and have welded exhaust pipes and sheet metal with it-stuff like auto body panels. It make welding sort of easy-and fun. Our shop has a Miller 250 that is 240 volt single phase-great machine for rookie. Can weld thicker...

Thanks for the responses. This truck just simply runs well. When it gets cold, I usually give it about a one half second shot of ether on the stack. I let it sit for about 20 seconds, then I hit the starter and it fires right up. It has four good batteries in it.
On the shop-I am still working...
Its now cold here in MN. Went to exercise my truck today, so I fired it up. As usual, the engine fired up immediately (about 25 degrees F here today). I took it through my property, and was preparing to take it into town to fill it up with winter blend fuel. I noticed a rhythmic clicking coming...
