Did you pull the plug out before Greasing the Knuckle?????
Check the LO if you did not.
You are supposed to remove the plug in the front and in the back half of the knuckle before adding grease.

also note 11 on page 32.
I second the axle shaft u-joints. I drove a 1008 that would not turn, and then would lurch to the direction you wanted to go.
Pulled the axle shaft out and it would not flex in any direction. Ended up doing both sides.
Hope this helps
I would think that using your arms and hands at specific length of mechanical advantage from your socket would be a more accurate method of tightening than using a pipe longer that it really needs to be.
I have a geared lug wrench and I tighten mine until I cannot turn the handle any more...
Gosh I am sorry. I missed the A3 designation.
I just looked for a torque spec in the A3 Manuals and could not find one. They do refer you to the A2 Manuals for certain procedures so I suspect since the lug nuts are the same as the A2 you can rely on the data I found in the manual mentioned.
Hi;
Not to be a pain. You can find this type of information in the Technical Manuals which are available here in the resources section or on www.jatonkam35s.com in the Deuce TM section.
The manual you need to look in is:
TM 9-2320-209-10-4
on page 39.
The answer lies there.
There is an alternator that has dual outputs. I know that it is used on the M915 series. Other vehicles I am unsure of.
Get an 24v to 12v inverter and save yourself a lot of hassle.
All you need to remove the Spline cap is a 3/4 socket and rachet.
If you are careful you will probably not disturb the gasket and all you will have to do is reinstall the bolts. 70 FTLBs incase you want to know.
manuals are here in the resources section or at www.jatonkam35s.com in the...
Sounds like a bad u-joint in the half shaft to me. A quick way to isolate the problem would be to remove the spline caps on the front axle and make a couple of turns in a paved parking lot. If the noise is gone it is in the half shafts. If it is still present the only parts remaining that need...
The 20K rating I mentioned is in the TM in description of the winch on the pipeline truck on the back.
The 5 to one rating I mentioned was for the line, and not for the rest of the rig. I am sure there is a very solid limit on the rear suspension of the truck. Remember the M62 and M543 and...
From what I have observed you use a 5 to one safety factor when dealing with overhead loads. A 20,000 winch would be safe holding a 4000# load. One issue that would need to be qualified is the question of a safe brake or load lock so the cable does not unexpectedly start spooling out without...
43-0147 is availablle at JATONKA snd dates to 1975.
The 43-0209 is from 1990.
I would believe that the older manual would have the correct information for your VietNam era numbering you are looking for.
Just my two cents
Edit additional information:
Here is a link to a page that has...
TM 9-2320-209-10-1 page 318 indicates that the winch max pull is 20,000. While I believe that this is the max for the winch, I would also say that the gin poles would not tolerate that much force and the rating is for a straight pull without the gin poles being involved.
This is what I could...
I use two 1000 CCA Optima yellow tops in my deuce with the LDS. Always starts.
The coldest I ever fired it up was 7 below and without a block heater it fired up.
I think the 6TLs are designed with a lot of shock absorption in mind and that is why they are so big. I say this as the CCA they...
With a deuce you have a fairly high center of gravity, tires that are horrid on the road (NDTs) and a suspension designed for articulation and not for road handling. Those are just the givens.
You also risk damaging or blowing an engine up by cruising at or very near max RPM. The multi fuel...
Other than a short there are two possibilities that can cause the brake lights to stay on.
1) A defective switch that keeps them on.
The test for this is to unplug the switch and if the lights go out you know the problem is not a short in the harness.
Before condemning the switch you need to...
