    m1028 cold

The Military utilized a winter front to reduce the amount of cold air entering the radiator so the engine would operate at the proper temperature. The diesel engine works best when the temperature is at the design temperature for operation namely around 195 degrees and even hotter. NOS...

    Losing Brake Pedal Pressure

Soak the end with PB Blaster or something like that to help loosen up the nut on the brake line before you try to get it off. Gimpy, you forgot the breather line...He could break two!

    Brake Line Pressure

I think that is where I saw it. Thanks for the reminder. I did search for the thread and could not find it either. If anything that should be on the Deuce FAQ page so people understand what the brake system has to do on these trucks.

    Losing Brake Pedal Pressure

How rusty was the hydraulic bore of the air pack? If it was bad, you need to attend to the Master Cylinder. CHances are better than pretty good that it will be as bad, or worse than the Airpack.

    Brake Line Pressure

The master Cylinder creates in the vicinity of 450-500 PSI The airpack increases this to between 1600-2000 PSI. I am looking in my resources to see where I found this information and I will post that once I have found it. Edit: Commercially available brake pressure testing tools use 2000...

    Losing Brake Pedal Pressure

No Fluid loss would indicate an internal leak in the system where the fluid is BYPASSING a seal. If the air pack was bad, I can assure you the master is equally as bad. I am talking about sludge and corrosion as well as seals that do not hold pressure. Look for leaks at your wheel...

    Front Tire Camber.....Question

From what I have been told, wear on the outside of the passenger front tire is normal and the best way to deal with it is to rotate the front tires side to side to even out the wear. That is what Jatonka told me and I have checked my toe in and it was in spec so I play swap the tires a couple...

    Help! No brakes in m35a2!

A diagnosis before a complete disassembly would be wise. You want to know what is wrong before you change a whole lot of stuff. A thorough PMCS (Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services) is in order and I am sure the OP (Original POster) will be doing that soon. Any further...

    Help! No brakes in m35a2!

Did the brakes release when the truck does not have any airpressure? If so, you can figure the airpack. If not, it is the master most likely. The first thing to do is familiarize yourself with the brake system in the Operator's manual TM 9-2320-209-10-1 Then you can review the...

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

I think the origins of this thread were along the lines of avoiding the nasty chemicals of the CARC as well as the excessive cost. I looked into CARC and could get the product but being a cheap soul, I tried another route and am very pleased with the results. I have painted my m35 twice and...

    No brakes

First thing is to do as suggested. Check the master cylinder. You will need a 3/8 and 3/4 wrenches. There is a breather line that connects to the center of the plug for the master. You will want to ask the previous owner and see which brake fluid they were using. Most Military vehicles use...

    Cool Down

Having done a test series with both pre and post turbo pyrometers, you would be amazed at how much heat remains in the turbo even after youi have stopped working the engine. The manifold/turbo assembly can reach upwards of 1200 degrees perhaps 1300 when you are working the engine hard. 1300...
