First of all, if you are changing the filters, do not run the truck for a day before hand. If you do you will have a huge oil mess when you pull the cannisters.
Second, drain the rear sump first. Have a 5 gallon pail for that one and another pail for the front sump.
If you drain the...
As fragile as the air compressor pulley is I would never use that to turn the engine.
What Gimpy said is the correct way to do it. I used a 3 foot bar to turn the engine when we did the head gaskets and were adjusting the valves. It was not easy but can be done.
Hey Gimpy...Finally got...
At WWW.JATONKAM35S.COM In the deuce TM section there are manuals for maintenance and repair including parts for the Alternator and also the starters, Leece Nevile, Delco and also Prestolite.
They are all the same. The hub assembly weighs near 100 pounds and can be a finger pincher when you put it back together.
Make sure you have the 8 sided 3" socket for loosening and tightening the bearings.
I converted my Civvy suburban of the same body style to the inglass antenna when I replaced both the fender and the windshield. BTW it is extremely easy to change the windshield on this type of vehicle.
I did pull the dash pad to install the antenna and to be honest it only takes a few minutes...
There was a build thread a little over a year ago about someone putting a M101 axle that had been lengthened under a M105. If you get 10 ply 16" tires you can put a lot of weight on them. Probably 4500 pounds. If you can score an axle and the surge brake assembly from a M101 you can adapt that...
To be quite honest, I would rather have the CUCV grill and headlight setup. The small headlights on the 1991 suburban are expensive and with as many miles on my truck as I have had to replace all of them. They are not as durable nor do they light the road as well as the big rectangular...
I have a chevy cork valve cover gasket that I cut pieces out of if I need to for replacement of these important seals. Viton is good too. The nice thing about cork is that is swells slightly when it encounters the oil ahd that helps ensure it is a good seal and nice and tight.
Actually, I am mistaken. Must be age or something. The cork goes under the bearing race and up against the seal tab. There is no way to check it without taking the locknut, washer and inner nut off.
Sorry for the mix up......
You could pull the axle and take a small plastic stick or tube from a spray lube can and slide up into the keyway. If it does not stop at the bearing there is no cork in there. The cork, or silicone needs to be right up against the tab on the seal.
Most all big trucks use oil bath...
If there is not a piece of cork in the keyway this can happen. Some folks use RTV but Cork works better and once in place does the job and it can be removed carefully and reinstalled when you need to service the bearings or seals.
Here is a picture of the truck and a webpage that describes the vehicle

Here is an exploded view of the tilt column for those who can use it.
The important distances are the mount to the firewall and the firewall to the end of the output shaft.
I cannot remember the exact year that the body on the GM pickup/suburban/blazer was changed and I am unsure if the...
