One a different note, I installed some cheap LED's in my kitchen, and they only lasted for 4-6 months. Just before they died completely they started to flicker like crazy and pulse like it was a night club dancefloor. I now only buy LED's if they have brand name chip sets in them like Cree...
As far as I know if it has a failing IP (injection Pump), unless you have the calibration equipment, it is not worth the risk of trying to rebuild yourself. I'm sure that some others have, but I wouldn't even attempt it. There are some shops that you can send your IP to them and they can...
Beware!!! once you buy OD green others will start appearing in your driveway soon after. It's like a drug.
Anyway, congrats if you already bought the truck, if not being a M1009 owner myself, I'll give you my 2¢ about them. But bare in mind, it is just my opinion, which is slightly biased...
They have an old Diamond T at the (sort of) local transportation museum here. It's actually in Campo, CA, about an hours drive for me. Lot's of cool trucks and equipment and some military ones as well.
If you're in the San Diego area or close by and want to see some interesting vehicles, it's...
I'm not in the HMMWV business but I like the trucks, one day plan on having one, well maybe.
Matt, not questioning your business or how you do things but I have 1 major question. Are you selling these trucks for "On Road" service and if so how are you doing that since most of these are...
Like CUCVRUS stated, all CUCV's were OD green on the metal parts, but depending on the issue they were either maroon or brown for the soft interior parts. Now when you say brown, are you referring to Brown or Desert Tan? Some CUCV's were repainted Desert Tan, I have a friend who's 1008 is DT...
It's a ways, I understand, but there is a small rally coming up near Barstow, I included the link if you want more info.
We do off-roading but a bunch more. The area we camp at near Barstow is a great location, easy to get to, even in a normal car, minor off-roading. We do BBQ, some bring...
Actually the Barstow rally is not bad to get to, even in a Camaro. One of the guys girlfriend got there in her little Scion, no pressure though....\\, lol;-)[thumbzup]
Welcome Dronsen and RoughwaterJon, San Diego here as well.
Dronsen, I sent you a PM, but RoughwaterJon, here is a link to a small rally coming up next month, great times, great people if you're interested and can swing by...
found some ,more pics from the archives....
All from the outer area of MCAS Miramar.
These are a couple of years old, so no worries on security, I'm sure they have moved on by now.
Well if you're getting crazy stupid and money is of no issue, and especially if you don't care about the stockness of your truck, then I would go with a Lenco ST1200.
It adds a whole new level of cool factor to your truck with the 5 lever shifter sticking out of the floor. Might set you back...
With all that said and done, I don't see why GP or GL does not "offer" said item to the 2nd highest bidder if the 1st defaults for whatever reason. Just seems to me that in order to move units and clear inventory that would be the best win win for everybody.
We all know that auction prices...
I saw that Gunny mentioned the palm tree logo about a year or so ago. Reminded me of a logo I saw on an old MV truck at an open air museum.
This truck was supposedly used in one of the Indiana Jones movies, it's hard to see since it is whit and faded, but I magnified the area on the front...
I believe they are, not that we will see any of the later models up for auction anytime soon, but as far as I know, they are still producing that series.
They have been putting out more MRAP style trucks for conflict zones, but the 939 series is still in full swing until they feel the need to...

Yes these vehicles can be reliable as many others have stated. I think even Rusty stated, it's not going to be your late model Honda grocery getter, but considering what it was designed for, the age and how well it is maintained will determine how reliable it is.
As for the maintenance...
Washed the mud and sand off of Ole "Fluffy", my 818 from when I drove her up to the SoCal Rally in Big Bear and had a great time with the guys (and girls).
If you haven't been there and are somewhat local, it's a blast. Trail rides, BBQ, talking ship, and just a plain good old time.
A pic...
well have a good time when you arrive here in San Diego. If you want to take a ride in another 809 series truck, just look me up. I actually live quite close to downtown, it would be an honor.
