I beg to differ with you blackrock. Mudguppy's build up page as you call it doesn't say anything about diferential engineering --- it just mentiones disc brakes.
A few months ago I called around looking for a manufacturer/supplier of disc brakes for my M35 and M37 that were recommend for...
Since I made the above post I've had a chance to get more familiar with the electric fan. While I still wouldn't want to undertake pulling a heavy load very far on a hot day, the 2360 CFM Spal fan does a good job in Minnesota weather. From a practical standpoint I have to ask, how often is a...
Here are a couple of pictures taken 43 years ago on a flight from Hong Kong to Saigon.
If you think Deuces slobber a lot they can't hold a candle to the old C47s/DC3s. There was always a stream of oil about 1 inch wide coming out of the engine/s and over the wing to the trailing edge.
Sorry I missed the line at the bottom of the page about the brakes. That's good to know --- I cheked around a year or so ago for disc brakes but didn't find a supplier. "outstanding!" [thumbzup]
Have you made any mods to the brakes to accomodate the "well above" 70mph speed? Also, it sounds like you're running oversized tires and wheels which further taxes the brakes. The 395s I'm running are only rated for 68mph.
I hear a lot about how to get more power and speed out of these old...
It's highly likely it's nothing more than wet stacking from idleing too much.
I'd take it out and run the **** out of it.
To be safe I'd also keep a fire extinguisher handy just in case there is indeed a problem and she decided to run away.
Spraying a co2 fire extinguisher in the air...
Looks like a great project Troll1216[thumbzup]
Not to hijack this thread but as I was reading I couldn't help but wonder how hard it would to modify an S280 shelter so it would fit in an M105 trailer bed on a bobbed deuce.
It seems to me, if you carefully cut away approx 36" of the lower...
You would be better off buying "the wifes" truck with the 489s. From the way it's is described, @ $2,450.00 it's a steal. My experience is that it will cost you close to $1,000.00 a hole to install 489s and lockers. Personally I will "never again" install lockers front "and" rear.
Anyway, if...
Luke do you have another vehicle that you use as a daily driver? If you don't you won't be able to get insurance on your Deuce.
If I were in your situation I wouldn't do it --- There is a season for everything --- this isn't it. Concentrate on getting a quality degree. You've got lots of time...
Good post --- Thanks for the input Randy.
I agree with you assessment on the LDS's power. I believe mine would pull Mt. Everest in 5th gear @ 2,000 RPM with 395/85 rubber. I love the way it sounds.
I'd like to know more about the aux gear box.
With the combination I "was" running which was a single barrel Carter Ball & Ball carburetor off a civilian power wagon I could get upwards of 12 MPG. I had tinkered with it therefore it was probably running more efficiently than most. The problem with the old single barrel is finding...
I'm not familiar with what you are calling a 2300 carb. All the books and parts manuals refer to the Holly/Weber 32/36 at a 5200 or 5210.
With the kind of fuel mileage and power performance I've managed to get why entertain the complexities of fuel injection. I've checked my mileage several...
When you put a deuce bellhousing and flywheel on an LDS motor you end up with the same "deuce" starter configuration. There is a spacer ring that must be used. The reason the starter is on the opposite side on the five ton is because of the bellhousing. The dipstick can be easily moved to the...
I should have noted earlier that the Holly/Weber 32/36 model 5200 was used on Ford Pintos, Chrysler K cars and Horizons. Technically it's only rated for a 2.5 ltr engine but given the fact that we only turn the 230 flathead engine at 2,500 to 2,600 RPM it seems to be a perfect match.
I live in Northeastern Minnesota --- about 50 miles from Frostbite Falls (International Falls). In the lower 48 this area is about as cold at it gets. In the winter I run straight number one diesel with Marvels Mystery oil for lubricity. With the new fuel formulations even number one is only...
My LDS came with a standard "D" turbo which is more common than not. I believe the cam is different. The LDS sounds different than the LDT. I've turned the fuel down a couple of times on my LDS simply because I didn't need the power. I didn't notice an appreciable difference until I turned down...
I've got some great news to share in fact it's so good I held off reporting on it until I could triple check my mileage numbers. My mileage readings have been too good to be sound true so I wanted to make one more check --- which I just finished doing tonight --- before posting this thread. My...
I spoke with Memphis Equipment the other day about the price of one of their stock M35s They check them out, clean them up and replace what needs replaced. When you buy one of their trucks you've got a dependable commercian truck. For a stock deuce with heater and hardtop --- no spin out hubs or...
