In need of some information. Location of VIN M35A2

Who is or was CARNAC? I read some earlier articles here where they were able to retrieve relative history for MV's, almost like a CarFax report.

Brake fluid leak, fix now or fix later?

From my years as an auto-tech, Dot 3, 4, 5.1 are not compatible with Dot 5 simply because of the base fluid is different. The advantage of 5 over the others is the fact that it is silicone based and does not absorb water or moisture, which is the main cause of brake system component failure...

I like that quote, gonna have to use that one day

Brake fluid leak, fix now or fix later?

I understand where you're coming from, DOT 5 does cost a lot more that DOT 3, 4 & 5.1. And yes ABS does not like silicone due to the actuators will squeeze the air out of DOT 5 and create havoc on the system. DOT 5 does not absorb water, since it is silicone based and not glycol based like 3...

Brake fluid leak, fix now or fix later?

Sounds like a decent choice. I know that not every parts store carries DOT 5 and if they do, how long has it been sitting on the shelf.

Why are CUCV prices so much higher that Civi Chevs

I still get asked questions all the time when they hear my 1009 start up. "That's a diesel?" Usually if they are old enough to remember, they'll ask, "It's not that diesel 350 motor, is it?" For a little back story, I bought my 1009 about a year and a half ago, paid $960 for it site unseen...

Brake fluid leak, fix now or fix later?

I was wondering, not that I'm saying you're wrong for doing it, but why would you switch from DOT 5 to DOT 3? Dot 5 has almost a 100° better rating for heat. The only advantage I can see is when it comes to bleeding your brakes, where the silicone based DOT 5 can absorb air and create air...

Is this Normal? M818 crashing noise in reverse.

That seems to make some sense and fairly easy and straight-forward to do. I have to pick up another jack 1st, since mine is only rated for 2 1/2 tons, but I knew I would need one sooner or later. This is what I love about good forums, good people helping one another with some issues. Thank you...

Is this Normal? M818 crashing noise in reverse.

I do hear air when shifting from neutral into 1st and more in reverse. I think what I did was let it roll back when it was in 1st. I have a very slight incline on my driveway and when I was backing it in, I most likely rolled one way or the other while in the opposite gear [forward while in...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Nice, it looks good. How was the drive, hopefully not a white-knuckle drive the entire way.

Is this Normal? M818 crashing noise in reverse.

Now since you mentioned that, I do recall reading part of the manual that stated something like that. That means I must "really" re-read the manual so I don't break anything. I think what happened, was that I was going through the gears to get a feel for everything and I left the transfer case...

Is this Normal? M818 crashing noise in reverse.

Hello. Sorry for the baiting title but I'll have to try my best to explain it as I don't have video of this noise as it occurs. I was driving my 818 around the neighborhood the other day when I heard this crashing noise as if I hit a car behind me. I was backing the truck in when this...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

If you have a Google gmail account, then you basically already have a YouTube account, since Google owns YouTube. If you don't have a gmail account, start one, it's free and upload the video to YouTube. When it's done uploading, copy the link from the top of the webpage from Youtube and post...

SoCal 2015 Summer Rally Sept, 18-20 Big Bear California San Bernardino Mtns. Camping

I'm new to the scene but hope to join you guys if everything goes well. I will hopefully bring my M818 and maybe my 1009 in tow, just in case the big one breaks down or something, hopefully not.

    FMTV in California?

I forgot about that line, crap. I think this is what keeps getting me. Without that line in there, I would say yes, no CDL required, as my truck is under the limits for the requirement, except the 3rd axle. This would also classify all duece's as well, correct, since they are 3 axle trucks.

    FMTV in California?

That sounds good and I appreciate the advice coming from a lawyer, as I know enough that the law can be interpreted in many ways depending on who is reading the law and for what reason. From what I read of the law was the same, no CDL required for a "private" person owning one and driving...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

As like Max1008 also stated. I used to have a work F550 that did the same thing, wound up being 2 tires and a bad stabilizer. They wound up replacing both front shocks as well, but it was a fleet truck, so it didn't matter on the cost of parts. Hopefully you won't have to replace as many.

    FMTV in California?

If you are correct then, I assume you are, that means anyone in Cali with a M35 and myself with a M818 will have to apply to a Class "B"? According to my data plate, my truck weighs 19,260 empty but the listed GVWR Cross Country is 34,260 and Highway is 44,260. So which load rating does DMV...

I have been having so much trouble with my PS belt, could never get it tight enough without thinking I'm going to burn out the pump. Thanks to your listing of the Gates belt #'s, I now know why. The belt in question I have is a 7455 and it's at the end of it's adjustment and still squeals from...

    FMTV in California?

It may not be in the same group of trucks you're looking for but I just bought a M818 that runs great and is farm fresh. I'm going through the process of tagging and titling it as we type. Good luck with your search
