Field stripped and repaired my poppet valves on a picnic bench for the M818.
Went offroading to get to the SoCal Rally that Blendmaster hosted and apparently got some water/sand/crud in the vent hole that made it's way into the air valve.
Caused the truck to lose air and we all know, no air, no...
Just made it home about 20 minutes ago, still sweating from enduring the blast furnace from the firewall and shifter in the truck. I thought I was sunburned, but I think my truck just roasted me to a very rare.
Anyway, my 1st rally and what a blast. Was a trail by fire type of thing for both...
Good job.
Nothing like standing up for your rights and not taking what the Man tells you, especially at the DMV. Maybe one of the supervisors at the DMV just interpreted the law incorrectly or maybe they just have an attitude in which they feel that they can dictate the laws as they feel...
Makes sense.
I was almost in your shoes, but different engine. Was starting to look at the IP before doing those steps. Luckily for me it worked out, spent time instead of cash, which I don't mind.
Hope yours is an easy or relatively easy fix.
This may have been already covered but I'll ask anyway. Does it run, even just, briefly when you spray ether into the intake?
If so, that's good. As for your HH, I'm not familiar with that one, so I will refer to the experts for that one. I find it is easier to bring things down to basics...
Everything on the truck seems to be in good working order, so I decided to clean the cab area, smells like old truck and other stuff. Not that I don't mind that smell, but wanted to just give it a good, cleaning.
Asked the wife while she was out running errands to pick up some general...
That makes perfect sense, especially when most everything you search for online is keyword based. I was just wondering if there was any difference, 'cause in my manual, it calls the tranny a Dana 6453, but it does have Spicer cast right on the side of it. I guess it like saying Chevy vs. GM.
No CDL required in California for Deuces or like me a 5-ton, unless you are using it for commercial purposes.
Yes if you read the law, line by line, it says anything over 6,000 lbs with 3 axles, but it states "Commercial Class B", so unless the vehicle has been titled to a company or you are...
I would steer clear of taking anything apart or off as well.
Many moons ago, I worked at an engine replacement shop [not for long, mind you]. Before starting any of the engine up for the 1st time, we used a oil pressure tank, similar to a brake bleeder, that connected to the oil gallery via the...
If your tires are balanced and everything else seems to be in order, could possibly be the rear leaf springs.
My 1009 is in need of leaf springs all around, but more noticeable in the front. If you have driven it for some miles, check to see if you have any feathering on the treads, basically...
I have to basically agree with what a lot of everybody else has already stated.
I have a 1009, use it as a daily driver, dependable as all heck. will pretty much run on anything.
The engines are the same, it's just the towing aspect that is different. Yeah, you could take the top off the 1009...
