Welcome to Cali and 29 Palms as well.
Been there a few times, there and Yucca Valley, Palm Springs and such.
There are MV's around, but they are hiding about.
Look on this forum, there is a rally happening somewhere near Big Bear I believe on the 18-20th. I am new to the scene but from what...
Never have bought from Gov. Liq. so I am with you, both vehicles I bought were through GSA and they came with my name on it already. The 2nd, I have a request pending with them to change the year, we'll see how that goes.
Glad you got it running. Had almost the same issue on my 818.
Had 0 of 4 batteries, only one tray, so I could only put 2 in, for now.
Took the 2 batteries from my 1009 to try to start it and it would crank and crank but no start.
I had a restriction in one of the tanks, I am running on the...
Congrats on the new project and Greetings from Very Southern California.
LMC has a lot of parts for your needs, they already got a lump some of my cash. Some how, I seemed to have ordered doubles of some items, must have been the beer.
Anyway, one thing 6.2's or any diesel does not like is...
I will definitely be there. Vehicle(s) will depend on if I get a title back and registered in time.
Plan is to take the 818 with the 1009 in tow, but trying to locate a reasonable towbar or borrow/steal one.
All else fails, I will just bring the 1009, she'll go anywhere
I have some experience of what you are dealing with, not with a MV, but another vehicle I "tried" to import to Delaware.
I lived in Delaware for the 1st 25 years of my life and moved to California, some would say not the best decision, but hey.
I had a 1974 VW Bus that I semi restored, was...
Greetings from the neighborhood.
I saw Fallbrook or Camp Pendelton, is that where you are stationed?
Used to live in Fallbrook for a short time, the Naval Weapons Station was my backyard. How peaceful it was to sleep at night with the sounds of a MK 19 in the distance while bright yellow...
When I 1st read Mr. Rusty's cousin Mr. Crusty, I had these guys pictured in my head.
Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, if you are wondering, from Car Talk.
Good to know, good to know.
I recently did my U-joints on the rear driveshaft, those are always fun to do {SARCASM}. Having to burn out the nylon material with a torch, melting plastic everywhere, burning hot driveshaft tube, then you get the fun part of putting the new joints in, yeah!
All...
Will there be any Vendors at the meet?
Reason being, I've been looking for a plastic battery box for my 818. I know Oshkosh has some, everywhere else seem to be out of stock or they want too much for it + shipping.
Have one and missing one, so the passenger side step is a little wonky for the...
Being the new owner of a 5 ton, I can say what these guys say is true, though I think I got lucky, well so far anyway.
I mean lucky that my engine didn't run when purchased, but was easy to fix, now running, it wasn't butchered for parts, and it is relatively clean for the age a '70.
Never have...
Almost forgot to answer your question on the oil pressure.
My 818, which is also a NHC 250, runs about 30 lbs at idle and slightly higher at top engine speed.
I didn't find the actual spec in the manual, but I'm sure it's in there somewhere, everything else is.
Well the antenna add-on is simple, the antenna on the civi model is embedded in the windshield, so all you need is a new windshield and the antenna connection parts and you won't loose that military look. All the parts are available on LMC Truck.
There are several manuals in the TM section, may be what you are looking for. Sections of the manual cover vast parts of the engine, which for a lot of the 809 series trucks like yours is most likely the NHC 250 Cummins. I don't think, but not 100% sure if they put any other engines in them...
Installed 2 of 4 new Group 31 batteries, 2 will come later after I get a new battery box and hardware.
During the battery install, found out the reason why my glow plug wasn't working, it was one the wrong battery terminal. Lead 569 is a small lead that is conveniently close to the cable that...
If you have already replaced the 2 seals on the tailgate, then it sounds like a regulator going bad, more or less the spring has lost its sprung.
The regulator's job is to keep tension on the window so it doesn't just drop into the tailgate channel and to stay in place when the window is rolled...
