Wow, I can't believe I never updated this thread! In my mind, it was done and current... Man, I think I'm losing it....
.... And I'm already gearing up to paint it again! Gillespie paint fades so fast, it's really quite disappointing. I'll be going with something different for paint this...
Unless they recently changed their formula, Gillespie's 24087 is too brown. With Aervoe I worry about it fading to pink. My instincts are telling me to get automotive acrylic.... I don't care about the cost, I want a quality, long lasting paint job in the correct color. Can acrylic be painted...
Wow, not a good day!
I assume you have an LDS-465 multifuel? There is an oil line that goes to the injector pump near the filters, but to me it doesn't sound like you were using the correct oil filter housing gasket.... It should be a square section o-ring. It is common for civilian filter...
Hi Group,
I'm looking for a few gallons of FS 595B 24084 (the color of 1960's 24087 per DDoyle's research) but I see that Gillespie does not offer it. Should I go to a Sherwin-Williams dealer and have them mix up some? You fellas who have used this color in an oil based paint, where did you...
You can see quite a bit with the t-case's top cover off, using a flashlight.... You should be able to see the uneven wear, if any, that Gerhard (gringeltaube) has pointed out in another post.... Just be careful if you do, the shift lever detent spring is under there.

The fact that it's not a White makes me feel better about my deuce's White, but I wonder if the re-timing had anything to do with it.... I thought there was no timing difference between turbo and non-turbo, but it could be CRS Syndrome.

The original thread wasn't about showing his truck, it was about a transfer case problem..... Here:

Now, this:

It could be the front crankshaft seal, but that would be oil, not fuel.... Are you sure it's fuel? Have you checked the oil, maybe it's getting diluted with fuel (bad fuel density compensator (FDC) or injector pump o-rings) and the overfilled fuel-diluted oil is leaking past seals... This is...
I see that RAPCO doesn't list 24084 on their website... Does Gillespie not make it? Where to get it? (in oil based enamel)
Also, if I go with an acrylic automotive paint, can it be sprayed over existing oil based enamel (Gillespie) or do I need to sand blast to bare metal?
Jon
Yes that's correct. You can see in mckeeranger's pics above that the clutch and pressure plate stay attached to the flywheel, so they won't need to be lined up again. The transmission has the throwout bearing and it's carrier and shaft attached. You may want to replace the throwout bearing...
You're just wanting to swap out transmissions, right? Then if the clutch is known to be low mileage / new, I would just swap out the transmissions and not mess with anything else. You won't take the clutch, flywheel, or bell-housing apart at all, and you won't need a clutch plate aligning tool...
You need to determine which side of the engine it's coming from.... On the pass. side it could be flame heater parts, or coming from the slobber tube. On the driver's side it could be coming from filters or the injector pump. On either side it could be a fuel line. More info needed!
Jon
That's an understatement! I drive by there several times a week but I don't bother going in.... Those guys are serious jerks. If you catch them on the right time of the month, there are a few good deals here and there...
Jon
Anything will work, but I like to use the kind for heavy duty diesel engines. I use Chevron's DELO Extended Life Coolant for all my diesel powered vehicles. Capacity is 25 quarts. All the CUCV manuals are available for download here on Steel Soldiers.... Did you get them yet?
