Change the fittings to hydraulic EXTRA HEAVY schedule 80 pipe fittings and you will have no more problems.The brass is to soft for the vibrations .These can be purchased at any NAPA where hydraulic hoses are made. :grd:
My deuce has a fresh rebuild engine that I have experienced head gasket failure with . Upon tear down and inspection the head gaskets were coated with copper coat . Head and block surface you could still verify that they were decked , inspected for square no problems !!! I have many years...
Diesel will work fine !!! Fumes not as harmful and flamable as Brake Kleen in a confined space . Your choice be safe and don't mke your deuce giant smores roaster for the kids !!!
Trans and transfer case with GL-1 (50w) will seem hot to touch after a long drive at road speed . Compare to oil temp. in oil pan of engine , big difference !!!
I wold suspect the head gasket . Hard to tell but you may have the type of gaskets with weep ports designed to leak !! Would not worry until it gets much worse .

Try greasing the bearings where the pivots are on the rear springs . (Trunion - Spelling ?) Greased mine and a bunch of noise in the rear end left town !!!
