Your head gasket has left town !!!! Not too bad of a job just need a special wrench to complete . M-35 Tom can set you up with new style head gaskets !!!
I disassembled them and used a good spray carb cleaner. Used a wire from a wire brush to clean the holes , Don't use a wire wheel it will scratch the surface and cause this to happen more often !
Mine looked the same after a few miles after clean up also. I am thinking a few miles on the highway will clean them up again. I have been running used transformer oil as fuel , may be a hotter BTU than diesel . The paint left town on the stack after a few highway miles also !!!!

My vote goes to the cork seal gave up the chase !!! Anyway clean everything repack bearings and replace the seal with some RTV on it should be good to go !!
White Oak works best , steaming and bending : many videos on YOU TUBE . I did a set a few years ago work great easy to complete . Clear white oak can be hard to find at times
I used the Garrison System on my truck with 5ton multi pump. Works great do not have to modify the column or OEM steering box . Has more power than needed. I found mine on an old fire truck with low miles. I had to modify the steering arm on the axle to increase to 1 1/2 ball stud (5 ton) ...
What is the OD measuremnet of your wheel adapter ? You can purchase or find Ball Studs at salvage yards for fork trucks they use the same type ball studs . Crown Lift Trucks online has a great catalog . Thanks,Dave
