Up my way, in winter snow... the mountain roads can be tricky! Chains are the only way for me in snow-n-ice!
Was just down at Sky Harbor and thoughts of cooler temps were the norm. ;-)
Sorry to hear you're having this problem. Mine is just a deuce, but because my radiator went bad...
I've actually learned a lot about the entire system. Once I had 'opened up' everything, I was pleased
to discover that everything inside was very clean.
I suppose it's possible that the previous...
I dug around the shed in search of something I can use to fab up a bug screen, but only came
away with nylon window screening. If I get a chance to run out to a hardware store I'd like to
get some metal material, or a complete, adjustable, framed product (if they carry them).
Maybe something...
Good to know that the deuce loves the desert heat! I had not thought about the size of the radiator being over designed. Glad to hear that! [thumbzup]
It's going to be a rough trip for me with no A/C, but I've survived X-Country trips without it before. I'd love to have a cool cab, but as long...
That's one of the things we were thinking of doing, but would there be a danger of restricting the air-flow
too much with the hot temps of summer? We're especially worried once we get into the extreme, brutal
heat of the southwest in July.
We've driven through some seriously bad locust swarms...
Hi Folks...
I just completed the installation of a new radiator in my deuce. It's in great shape
and completely free of bugs and the like. (In a strange OD/MV kind of way, it's beautiful!)
My wife and I started talking about several of the X-country trips we've made in the past
and...
Got up early to test all of our radiator install work and so far... well... let me put it this way (since I don't have enough wood to
'knock-on' and... Murphy tends to roam around here at times), E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G L@@KS P-R-E-T-T-Y G-O-O-D!!!
Whew! Now... it's on to...
That's awesome! [thumbzup]
My wife and I... both... have been 'planning' to take the Tech Test, but... life has continued to get in the way of it
as a priority. We still expect to do it. Maybe this fall, or winter... if things slow down a bit.
That video is crazy!! I think the postmaster might not be too happy with that action!
In the case of my inexperience doing work on our deuce, there was nothing I could do to change the
fact that I had screwed up during the 1st install. :shrugs: I wish I had known better, but now I do...
I was sooooooooo excited to have completed the 1st install... with just the lower hose left to connect! THEN....
when I got under the truck and looked up... I was stunned that my hands and tools were NEVER going to fit in
there. I figured I could have removed the alternator to create space, but...
Finally got my replacement radiator installed today! I sure learned a lot in the process... especially
after the 2nd installation. Yup... it took me two attempts to get it done correctly.
The first time I thought I'd be able to put the top portion of the lower hose in after attaching the fan...
Now that I've got some room... I'm thinking of continuing to clean things up in those hard-to-reach places.
Some paint, new hoses and belts are next. I wonder if I ought to install a coolant filtering system. I'll have to
check with the folks at NAPA to see if it's something they carry. I did...
