Oshkosh FMTV FMTV : Oshkosh Defense
Stewart and Stevenson had the contract first but then Oshkosh picked it up Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV)
The early FMTVs had problems that resulted in a number of accidents when driven at a certain highway speed range. The quick fix was a sticker...
A lot of CARC is rough enough to be like sticking stickers on sand paper. Contact adhesive like Chris says will ensure that you're not just adhering to the high spots. Gorilla Glue or 3M"s "77" are good choices. Follow the instructions.
If you can't get a heat gun or hair dryer then park the truck in the sun for a aan hour or two.
The tape is designed to break if you try to remove it (it's the same stuff they print the vehicle registration year license plate stickers on.
I've found a trick that seems to work though; after the...
I'm pretty sure A/C was the first thing that went in. Probably for primarily cooling the back section, with any left-over cool air vented up to the two-legged officer.
I don't want to use the word "pampered" but these dog's needs are definately seen to-- because when they're working, THEY ARE...
Our local police department got a suplus HMMWV and did a little modification to it. I like the personalized upholstery detail on the seatbacks.
I'm thinkin' our K-9 officers are tougher than I thought-- or that they're up against tougher suspects than I realized.
The equipment guys are...
Depends on how much resistance the heater element can provide. I'd think the closer to the system voltage, the more the resistance would act as a good dump for the over current. The whole secret is to give that current something to do in order to expend itself; be it lighting a light, feeding a...
I would think it should be on if it's working. I've got them, new in the box, but never used one.
Everyone says they're "battery maintainers", not battery chargers. The Solargizer site says they help batteries charge faster and hold that charge by keeping the cells de-sulfated.
I don't get the...
Sorry Breeze, I guarantee you I looked. And now I'm watching for them.
I'm surprised it made it as far as the dumpster; usually someone upstream spots goodies like this first.
Thanks guys. All good points; especially about going direct to the batteries. I've got dedicated ground cables between cab and frame, bed and frame, engine and frame, t-case and frame as well as both axles to frame but you're right, it's still better to go direct when possible.
When i dug the...
Hello Kenny,
Been doing patient advocate work for a cancer patient who has seen about every turn of bad luck you could imagine,
Also battling a little medical problem of my own. (When you're a complete a$$hole, the doctors are never sure where to start, or stop, cutting).
I'm on the mend now...
OK, OK... two wires; one red, one black-- how hard can wiring one be, right?
Solar chargers; from the battery maintainers like Solargizers to the full-blown solar battery charger panels have two wires, one for the pos and one for the neg battery terminals.
My question is: Is there a reason to...
Here are a few pictures to give you some ideas.
Exterior, facing the most prevailing sunshine. Roof or cowl is better than tailgate or other vertical surface. A flat tab off an antenna mount or convoy light mast would be other good spots.
Sounds like you got it straightened out. Emails were pretty easy to figure out; only took reading a line or two. More concerning was the site that members got directed to.
I for one tried to give mods a heads up but there's no sure and trusted way to email in when you're not sure where your...
Here's another view. My info says it'a a Coleman.
These were all over McClellan AFB (Sacramento, Calif.) in the early 50s.
The rear facing seat was for the observers so they could keep an eye on what they were towing; namely, B-36s and XC-99s. Neither of which is a tiny airplane. See pictures.
There are several.
Equipment Inspection And Maintenance Worksheet (General Maint.), Vehicle Classification Inspection (surveys a vehicle for condition and repairs needed), Motor Equipment Utilization Record (check out sheet to use vehicle), Equipment Identification Card (just that-- 3" X 5" card...
Not sure of the purpose of the indentation.
It may so that there's more "hex" for a wrench to grab or it may be nothing more that a by-product of the head formng process.
