I have seen troopers do this, when on the shoulder of a highway, they put their vehicle at a slight angle like pulling out into traffic kinda stance. Even turning the front wheels hard while it is parked, may slightly signal to drivers that it is not just another vehicle going down the road...
From the Technical Manuals area here on site, the operators manual.
In there you will see pics of the different M939 series like; wrecker, dump truck, van, cargo, etc.
I believe the older 5 tons were the 809 series.

Fluids; 15w-40 oil for the engine. 90 wt oil should work for the axles and transfer case. The five I have been around had/have 10 weight oil in the Allison transmission. I believe the -10 TM has all the info about fluids. I think there is a sticky around here too about stuff to bring for...
one thing mentioned about the trans fluid. There are two or three options depending on climate or situation.
The 5 939a2 series bulldogmack13 and I have owned came with 10 weight oil in them. A certain automatic transmission fluid is an option, I believe for colder climates.
I do not...
I showed my M923a2 to two different former army mechanics and they both noted that the PCB usually has dents and hammer marks from being beat on.
I would try a wack on the PCB as one experiment. just my two cents....
Both A2's I have had went thru rebuild and have engines rebuilt or built the year before the truck went thru rebuild 07 and 09. You may be able to find one in a can on the site where we buy trucks from the government. I just always look at vehicle on there, I don't go into the parts area...
She is incorrect about the VIN/serial number on military vehicles. I deal with a large DMV office here and only one or two workers out of the 15 there know how to force an ex military vehicle registration through the state computer system. Best of luck to you. I am on my 4th 6x6 cargo truck...
My first one had that roof problem on the way home 860 mile drive. We taped it temporarily ( maybe try gorilla tape). The fix I did when I got home worked well. Gorilla glue, clamp a 4 foot 2x4 across the top to hold it down till the glue dries. As you may know or see on the directions...
Do it in high range. Anecdotal evidence: Last summer, I hooked a chain from one bumper shackle onto a F250 4x4 with an attached trailer with some hay on it and it had buried all 4 tires deep in a wet grass field. I was facing the pickup truck and backed up in 6x6 hi range and the pickup truck...
Guess they need to make the banner near the top of the forum pages even larger....it states this like this, this size already.....

where in Utah? I have been to Moab a few times, would really like to explore more of that state. I think Boyce equipment is in your state. I sure would like to walk around their place and see all the military surplus they have.
Yesterday I found the wires to the transfer case switch worn through, one completely in two and hanging free. I did see what may be a capacitor under the cab that one of these wires runs through. I thought a capacitor stored energy, is this really the fuse or is there a fuse under the dash? I...
I ran around just in High till I saw the video or heard about this a couple years ago. So then, on steep hills in town I tried this hi low stuff and it worked okay going thru six different gearing set-ups a little better than the standard 5 in hi. I think it helps you split that big gearing...
to bleed, 10mm wrench on nut thingy on side of IP between IP and engine block. The clicking is normal fuel return, you can feel the line going back to the tank pulse as it clicks. ATF is a great cleaner of gummy stuff in fuel system.
