Are you talking about the inner rod or rope/cording or the spot welded steel cover it slides into? OK I realize what your needing I have that holding rod handy somewhere.

I just measured the frame, this is just an approximation, but 17.25 X 27.25 are what I came up with. Where are you getting the glass, a glass shop, if so take a frame w/you?
Either way it's gonna cost around 27 to 30 bucks maybe more. I did one and bought a brand new...
My windshield channel was crushed on the passenger side, then covered up w/a welded-on roof. Took a lot of effort to not remove the channel and redo the entire channel. I rammed a progressively larger all-thread through it. There is still a small dent/crush, I can live w/it. Not sure the damaged...
Been a while, but I'm sure the strappin was tied in, the hog rings held the canvas cover to the wire frame. The burlap was a covering of the entire surface, then the od canvas.
Both, the springs were wrapped & tied to each other, then the horse hair & burlap covering, finished w/ proper canvas, using hog rings or eyelet/and cord. Wee-Bee Webbing has both options, I did the eyelet and cord.
