By the way, Ken - How'd you join the forum in 1969? PCs weren't even around then! Wait, don't tell me - 2.8 jiggawatts and 88 mph in a deuce... You dont need any of this; just go back to when gas was 19cents/gallon.
:)
There were a couple of articles in Mother Earth News a long time ago. One guy had a pickup that ran on wood scraps from a furniture mill. N.Carolina, I think. As I recall, he got about 30 miles per bushel! Another ran a regular car engine to compress air, turn a generator and heat water for...
Interstate Batteries is contracted to provide the military so you can buy new 6TLs in OD Green! From a distributor they're about $86 each ( list is something like $125). There is a core charge so your old batts are traded in - even with cracked cases! Some folks love Interstate, some hate...
DOT says no recaps on the front and most states go with DOT or lose funding. Having said that, I wonder if there are exceptions as to the quality of the recap (A3?) and/or the use of the vehicle? Interested in hearing what they say!
Heard that! I've got what appears to be a good engine, just needs a 'tune-up'. Figured compression was the place to start. With good oil pressure and good compression you've got something to work with....
The switch passes 24V thru to the buzzer which is grounded. If somebody wanted to rattle your cage it would be simple to move the hot lead from the switch to the buzzer. Just a thought...
Lee,
Sorry 'bout that - It's "www.tooldiscounter.com" (No 's'). Just checked it, works fine. Of course you can also google on discount tools and maybe find a better deal...
I was hoping some others would chime in with their experiences but apparently there's not much interest here.
Let me...
There was a prior thread on using a lockable handle, garage door, I think. Search and ye shall find...
I saw a deuce that the owner used an aircraft mixture control stop lock on. Worked well. It was red and went around the throttle stop control when pulled out. took an external padlock...
I'm in the process of doing that right now and here's what I've found:
You can buy new diesel compression gauges direct from tool companies cheaper than the 'deals' on ebay and a whole lot less hassle!
I just got a TU-15P compression gauge only (no case) and a TU-15-11A adapter (American...
My truck came with an official US army padlock on the steering wheel chain complete with an official US army number on the lock cylinder. Problem is, I didn't get the official US Army key with it! Does anybody know if a key can be made from the number? Having a working US lock would be nice.
RDD, 'zactly! I got my old tach out and took a couple of pix.
P, measuring across the arrow at the 'N' the decal is .250" Wide, the red band is .160" and the letters are .120". Although the pix doesn't do justice, the arrow stretches from 2600 RPM to 3500 RPM.
Nothing is ever simple! I looked at Rick's and the danger decal Warren has on his speedo. They're both different from the danger decal on my tach. Mine is red and smaller. Looks to be about half to third smaller. Seems like nitpickin' but were both designs original? I'd like to replace...
The pickleX looks interesting but gets pricey in a hurry! The phosphoric acid based metal conditioners are much cheaper and work well if you follow directions and rinse. Also you can buy them at most auto paint supply houses too. About $7.50/pint which dilutes 5 to 1 with water.
Warren, I'm amazed! What does the turn signal connector have to do with not getting power to the starter, etc.? Strange stuff! Did you get the wiring diagram?
Re: the charging system - the ammeter is really a voltmeter. Static voltage should be around 24V and rise to 28V when charging (the...
