It's the same thing that makes a Harley Davidson what it is - Good ole' brute force no nonsense American engineering! And its got that sound...
Love it!
Add new tubes and flaps to the tires... Headlights usually don't last long either. Check/clean axle and tranny vents. Check frt. axle boots. Fun stuff!!!
Is the new style air compressor a two-cylinder by any chance? I've noticed some have single and some dual cylinder and always wondered why the difference. The dual seems to be more common in the commercial applications...
Good idea! I keep forgetting this is the 21st century... They can probably do that at the dry cleaners! LOL So I'm assuming the schematic never made it on line? Peter Bog did a magnificent job redrawing that in auto CAD. It would be a shame to lose it to time.
For leakage too low to show up on an ammeter, disconnect the negative battery lead and read the VOLTAGE between the Negative battery post and the wire you removed. ANY reading indicates a leakage path SOMEWHERE.
Has anybody posted a copy of that schematic Peter Bog did a while back? That was a...
Gamma Goats for sale
In case anyone is interested there are (6) Gamma Goats up on GSA Auction in Maine. As I recall the closing was around January 03, maybe. They are new listings today.
Phosphoric acid (Phosphate) in Coke dissolves rust, as well as blood stains, etc. It's even good to clean your battery terminals! But I'd have to be pretty desperate to pour all that sugar in my engine! I think if it came to that I'd rather use a dilute mix of Metal Treat of some other brand...
Turn on the Master switch and listen for the lift pump in the tank to run. Open the bleeder screw(s) on the fuel filter and see if there's fuel pressure. Crack a line to an injector and check for high pressure fuel delivery while cranking. If all fails, get out your checkbook!
Seriously, I...
Figure I've got to tackle the Deuce tune-up soon so I'm using the weather as an excuse to research tools and parts. Thought I'd start by pulling injectors and have them tested, cleaned, set, etc. That ought to be a good time to check compression and do a cyl leakdown test. So has anybody done...
Lots of good advice in this thread. We needed this. The first rule is the 10%/90% rule - When you're 10% stuck is when you apply 90% recovery effort! Much safer to winch out of a 6"deep hole than a 2' deep hole!
I was tempted to make some shear pins from 6061-T6 until I read the prior post...
I too had a Craftsman for 20+ years. After the third compressor rebuild the tank finally rusted thru. So I replaced it with a Speedaire from Lowes (belt drive) which has been a very reliable unit for the last 4 years. Look for an ASME tank - that's an indication of quality. Ditto RDM's...
My wipers work just fine but after checking out Connie I believe I'll go outside and work on them...
Are there enough 'Connies' to start a sub-section for us old lechers?
Well hopefully, I'll come back as SixBuy instead of 'Guest' this time!
So DR, You buyin'? And maybe the Avatar will work too...
The more I think about it the more I favor Zip codes to avoid putting too much personal info out. You can always PM if you need more info. Getting a workable map...
RDM, I say do it in the DEUCE forum, at least till it gets going. I see 'THE Network' has appeared somewhere and now I can't find it again! I posted to it (maybe) and then saw the message come up as 'guest'. The old system worked better (for a while)
