Time to pull the air pack as by the sounds of it the valve is shot where you have the air leak (the valve that is just in front of your second picture held on by 6 screws) and the valve in behind it could be could be leaking the brake fluid which is sending it through the air release line up to...

If they are the large u joints for the middle diff, the round cap should measure 5 5/8 across on the outside and the bolt style caps should be 4 1/2" from center hole to center hole.
The center or the main drive axles in 2 wheel drive are quite large in size (requires 4 in total) but I was also in shock when he told me the price. I tried a couple of the surplus dealers with no luck so you some times have to bite the bullet with oddball style parts that are not the norm.
I got a couple U joints from Capital Gear a local DriveTrain specialist and the part numbers off the bill are as follows.
TGD 5025R U-Joint, 2-6R, 2-6C Caps. They were $158.00 EA.
This is for the Center axle ( Inner and Outer ) as the front and rear are different.
