evolution
yes I noticed the 900 series trucks are being sold off now. Seems like normal progression to me. They got rid of the deuces (G742 series or sumthin) and the 800 series 5 tons, now along come the 900 series trucks to be discarded from active duty. Works for me.
I have an '87 ex-airforce M35a2c. Sounds like a good price if like what wreckerman was saying. Pics of mine at GL auction last year and then last Monday.
shine on
I just replaced my faded lenses and rusted, water-logged internal parts, with whole new units from Boyce Equipment ( $58.95 a piece). They are not LED. The new piece is laying on the fender, not yet installed, in attached pic.
Did a parade today in Fountain, CO with the Pikes Peak Marine Corps League. Bulldogmack13 and his family just moved back to town and rode along with me. At the end of the parade, the Young Marines who had been marching in front of our entourage, jumped in my truck for a ride back to the starting...

I found a small hunk of metal in my transfer case too when I drained it. This 1987 M335A2C air force reserves truck only had 13,800 miles on it when I got it, no rebuild.
I am not going to worry about it. Ignorance is bliss.
Glad to have you aboard.
Welcome! You will have a lot of fun if ya get a deuce and yeah, most kids and many adults are fascinated with them as evidenced at displays I do with mine.

I have an '87 ex-air force deuce with the dual brake system.
Maybe I could get some pics from underneath for ya if it would help.
Gimp, if you could let me know how to put the truck on it's side so I would have better lighting while taking pics of these parts, that would be great.
suggestions
Spend some time at Yellowstone NP, see the old glory inn next to the geyser. Stop in at Grand Teton NP, stop in at the Lodge there and walk into the lobby area. Stop in at Dornans, they have a causal dining hall there with awesome views of the peaks Dornans in Moose, Wyoming [[...
lucky dog
Looks like the stars aligned just right for you at that end-of-bid-time. Congrats! That's price is comparable to stating one could find a WWII jeep in a crate for $50.

don't worry about getting the perfect one the first time.
get a nice one or decent one, learn on it, and sell it after awhile if need be and move on up to another one you find nicer if you wish.
wait a minute
Good catch on the brace. A dropside cargo bed troop seat rack installed on a non-dropside cargo bed. Oh! so close to winning a trophy at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance, if that had not been sighted. Missed it by that much!
