****, it's still YOUR money, isn't it? I'm with the rest. This is a test of how much control she will have on you if you marry her. If you cave to her now, you will be a henpecked, *ussy whipped punk the rest of your natural life.
Caveat. If this is a gf with whom you share a child, and you...
What he says. At least put a 1/4" bolt and demonstrate that it will pull at least a load of a couple thousand pounds. I believe that the gears in the winch are brass and will shear.
BTW, pay no attention to the miles. Engines and odometers and tachometers are changed out with new units and...
Fool with the turn signal lever and see if it will work somewhere in between off and on. If so, you will have to pull the steering wheel and lock plate off and clean and grease the components a bit.
Well if I had read this sooner, I would have told you that there is a stick epoxy out there that is made specifically for pinholes in fuel tanks. The best thing is that you don't even have to drain the tank. Just clean the area off and sand it a little to rough it up and put the epoxy right...
I would add that since you are fairly near the GL lot, definitely go and look at the trucks, check the fluids and start them if they will you. They may even let you use a truck that starts to jumpstart one that will not, depending on the GL rep there. Many don't care if you start them but may...
If you buy a whole bus or truck, you can even take the power steering system and transplant it into the deuce. And a deuce with air conditioning is the holy grail of deuces.:beer:
If you are willing to pay the extra bucks for and A3, then consider getting an A2 and an old school bus with a 5.9L Cummins and an Allison transmission and performing a heart transplant. The only place you will have problems with the transfer is converting your truck over to 12 vdc and that...
Beyond your skill level? Jeez, if you can operate a torch, a drill and basic hand tools, you can do the job yourself. Springs from the front suspension of a deuce or the springs off an M105 trailer will work.
I would be looking for a leak in the vacuum system by pulling the line off the vacuum pump and attaching a hand held vacuum pump with a gauge to line. You should have little to no vacuum leak. If you have no leak then it is time to find a new vacuum generator.
Stay off the main thoroughfares and you will avoid most weigh stations. Heck, I bet that you can find a full list of weigh stations and where the are on the Internet so that you can avoid them.
If you are doing it for the adventure, go for it and have a great time but do everything you can to prepare the truck even if it costs you a few hundred $$. Bring camping gear and look for great places to stop and camp. (Shoot, that starts to sound like a great road trip)
And get a round...
I would go the whole 9 yards and do every PM I could think of including removing all the wheels and greasing bearings, greasing every zirc fitting I could find, making sure any axle leaks are fixed, change oil and filters, top off differentials, transmission, and transfer cases, double check the...
