Is this problem contagious? I just drove my truck from Ohio to KC, and when I got there my transfer case wouldn't shift out of High either!
I heard a "clunck" sound the previous day, but it didn't sound like anything broke. I had figured the linkage jammed, but haven't really look...
thanks
I appreciate the offer Gimp, but this one is short notice. I'm flying out this Thursday! 14 July, and will only be in town a day or two. Long enough to fix wheel seals, and load a few boxes and field desks. I plan to leave Sat. morning.
If this turns into another adventure (ie crazy...
You know how they say "Pictures or it didn't happen"? Well it hasn't happened yet :-P For now this is a sanity check, to see if bringing my M35a2 home is nuts!
Inside of four days, 14july11 to 17july11 I have to:
- fly to Dayton
- Rebuild two rear wheel seals (never done that)
- Fix a leaky...
Don't forget that the military continues to be fascinated by arctic conditions, and want everything to be capable of operating there. Hence ether (or older flame heaters) on every truck. Heck my truck has both! the flame heater is disconnected.
On a related note, I've been told that...
I put mine on when the hi temps dropped below 70* the truck stays cool even in the afternoons when it warms up.
"CANVAC" from Cabela's is on mine, and it works well.
Of course I had to have it inspected (professionally) by the cat.
It passes, as usual.
Hey you made it over to SS... and it looks like you are well on your way to incurable "OD Iron" disease 8-) and being on this site it will not be long before you start trying to buy a Deuce or 5-ton!
I drove mine through a Taco-H*ll once... the building was brand new! Literally less than a week old. I was feeling proud to have gotten through it on the first try, without pre-driving it in the car.... and the store manager came to the window and tried to chew me out
I kind of heard...
Georgia Rally? I don't have to ask why, I would go too if I had time!
I'll admit that I'm going to Haspin based on my calender... and figured that Halloween weekend would be booked for other people also.
In all reality there are enough of us HMV nuts in the Cincy and Dayton (not to mention...
Hmm, I've been thinking about going over also.... had the same though, who will pull me out if I get stuck?
Haspin is only about 70 minutes away from my house.
I have an M35a2. I bought it for fun and ended up using it for our re-enactment weekend called Eastwind.
This spring we ran out of trucks, so I got stuck dragging our groups MKT-99 halfway across Missouri. Turns out they track behind a deuce really well... and even push sometimes too! Just at...
Do you have a link to the trailer? The pictures will still be up for the rest of us to eye-ball, if you have the actual link.
PS. I'm hoping to make a trip from Dayton to Kansas City, sometime before Nov. It will be my last trip before the Army gets me into Basic, I've already started making...
Does that gear oil really create a vapor? Either way I may reconsider, or just add a maintenance step where I blow the silly things out very now and then.
There is a lot of horizontal line running from the rears to the front/engine bay.
hkvette, That's what I'm thinking. Someday down the road, I'll add the full blown fording kit. For the moment I'm just tired of changing (and worrying) about repacking bearings.
However, I am noticing a trend of NOT putting 90 degree elbows in the lines. I'm tempted to change them now.
Yep, I should probably have some sort of filter on my brake line too.
I just haven't found anything that jumped off the shelf at me. I'm seriously thinking about starting a fording kit mod, thingy, and routing those two first, and then tackling the rest of it.
