It all depends upon what kind of shape the truck is in. A lot of us here have gotten really lucky. Other folks have had hair-pulling nightmares.

I have had the same problem. I load tested the batteries just to make sure.
Mine would start on the third try after the truck had been sitting over night. After the truck was warm, it would be fine.
This past saturday, it took four or five tries to get the starter to fully engage.

Here is how I have fixed two voltmeters in the past. The long white and pink rectangle is the stock 300 ohm resistor.
Radioshack 150 ohm resistors 5 pack 1.25
You can solder them together or just...
Or you can get two 150 ohm resistors and install them on the back of your voltmeter where the existing 300 ohm resistor is .... I've fixed two that way.
After consulting the great and all knowing CARNAC, the truck IS NOT in the Army data base.
I'm thinking it's either USMC or Navy..... CARNAC suspects it might be Air Force.

There is a back-up light switch on the colum, near the fire wall, might be out of alignment. Autozone, or NAPA should have them. Dont recall the p/n.....
