    Deuce GVWR ??

OUCH, that is not even close to what the Fed specification is. The manufacturers in most cases would have a real issue with that if someone with the funds actually pursued the issue.

    Deuce GVWR ??

GVWR is what the truck is plated at regardless of where it is. GVW is what it weighs and some states supposedly look at that, but FDOT will look at that only to determine if you exceed GVWR so they know how much to make the ticket for........... Commercial rating of the deuce is much higher...

    lack of power under load

Sounds like low boost pressure refer to checking pressures from Floridianson, this is critical for the HH to fill and be able to consistently deliver fuel under load. BUT, this shows itself as skipping and breaking up under load when the main fuel line either from the filters to the compensator...

    Looking for metallurgist info.

    Can you adapt 5-ton rods?

    Looking for metallurgist info.

They should be cast steel, cast iron has very little shock resistance and would not play well with the axle loads. If you really want a metallurgist and or weld engineer of specification drop me a PM. My lab has the metallurgist, weld engineers, CWI's, chemist, and whatever to test, identify...

    Tennessee Members, sign in.

Dellray, did you say "offroading"...Does that mean driving on a manicured gravel road? Come on now....this is the Georgia Rally. Come visit, sit, play, relax, or push them as hard as you want. If the norm for what we call off-roading is not enough, just get with the trail master and he can get...

Do you need a CDL for a 5 ton

Lance has touched the other "issue". Commerce is the key, and yes ANYTHING or combination of ANYTHING over 10,001 pounds GVWR or GCWR is commercial, BUT no (except for possibly state requirements) no CDL required, BUT, must have a medical, logs (or 150 mile rule and time sheets), and pre/post...

    Acceleration Question

Does it easily reach the RPM you want when operating under no load? OR, does it rev slower after you reach 2000/2100? If it acts the same you have either a fuel filter problem, boost pump problem or governor problem. Filters are easy. Boost pressure can be checked with new filters at the bleed...

Do you need a CDL for a 5 ton

I do not think there is any reference to air brakes in the fed requirement for CDL. If so please show us. Some states have those requirements, and some just ignore the non-commercial trucks.

    Is Jatonka still around?

73...now that's not nice, all (most anyway) of us are getting rounder, just in some of our cases the glare from our God given solar collectors tends to hide the expansion. Jatonka, hope the real busy is good profitable work. Keep up the good work.

    Fuel Pressure Gauges

The booster is specified to make 30-40 psi at idle and 60-80 psi at 2800. The overflow valve on the opposite side of the HH is the bleed point. The HH needs this high pressure to fill the pump chamber fast enough to make the injection cycle. Excess is dumped by the fuel control sleeve between...

Can we ask how much? Looks great.

    Towing Question

Do you have access to a towbar or a vehicle trailer? Trailer is the best if the brakes are good, towbar is fine IF you keep the speed down.

    Hello from NW Georgia

Welcome, and yes you need to come to the Ga. Rally. Should be ample sources to locate a good 109 here on SS.

    Which Deuce, 923 or 925?

Welcome to SS. Be sure that it is a 5-ton that you want. There is more difference than just twice the load hauling capacity. Search for the comparison, you will find a lot of good reading to assist in the 2.5 v. 5 decision.

    Hello folks I'm new here

Welcome. The Jimmy's are great trucks, you will enjoy it.

    Ignition timing

Have you confirmed spark at the plug? Sounds like the insulator cap in the mag may have a crack on that connector. Like DH said, both cyl fire together there is no distribution.

    Injector rebuild?

Great suggestion Floridianson, the block to IP line can be a reeeeal pain. Doable just a pain.
