That's a good idea, I'll have to try that out. I think it may depend on the thickness of the gun that's mounted. I've just been using the cable locks that I have to buy when I buy a gun through an FFL.
You should be able to just push the tappets in and be good to go. They are a loose enough fit so they can slide up and down easily. You can probably do it with one of the push rods.
It's weird about the push rods. Is it a rebuild engine? Maybe they got damaged before they were put in the...
I recently fixed mine that was doing that. There's 2 o-rings on the flame heater. The outer one is a normal round one and the inner one is square shouldered. Make sure the replacements are fuel rated.
It could have been an injector that contributed also. The previous owner said when he got it it was turned up way too high. Luckily it's just a cheap project engine. There was piston slag all around the valves and down the exhaust ports. Really putted up the valves and seats which have to be...
I did think of what it might be. When I reassembled the knuckles I greased them so I could make sure to get a lot in there and the kingpin bushings were tight since they were brand new. When I checked for end play the tight bushings and packed in grease could have made it seem like there was...
That's the flame heater. The one on the engine is fine but you don't really need it unless you live in a cold climate. You'll also need to put in LDT plumbing for the oil pump because the pickup is in the back on the LDS and won't fit the short sump on the oil pump.
The vent is fine and driving causes it to leak because the differential moving trows oil on the axle shaft and it migrates down to the seal and runs out. It's leaking from the inner front axle seals. I have a few ideas on things to check. I'm becoming an expert at these axles just trying to stop...
So after all the stuff I did to that front axle, I just noticed today BOTH sides are leaking AGAIN! aua At this point I'm about to just say **** it and let it leak or ditch this POS axle.
Like your setup and liked seeing your trip to the Black Rock Desert. I'm planning on going to the same places went to out there(just google earthed around and found it). It's cool someone else with a M109A3 and hard-top M105A2 is doing this too.
I highly recommend replacing the rubber lines and thoroughly checking the steel lines for rust if it's a deuce off the GL lot. They can be very old on these trucks and you just can't trust them.
I did the vent line system on my M109A3 so far and my M35A2 next. To tie in the trans and transfer case I put a elbow on the transfer case, ran a line from that to the trans where I installed a tee fitting, then ran the tube from that to another tee on the firewall to connect it to the line from...
I put similar air ride seats in my M109A3 and the cab is definitely a little cramped for them. It has a huge height adjustment range but a limited comfortable one. Too low and it's really awkward operating the pedals and too high and I'm pushed right into the steering wheel and I'm a thin guy...
