1. You can reprime the system without changing the filters but if they are dirty you should change them. The primary is NAPA 3512 and the gasket should fit. Secondaries are 3117 and gasket is 5070.

I use it almost exclusively around the ranch and use it often with split shifting on the road. I always start in 1st if I start in high range. The goal is to put the least stress on the transmission and clutch because I incur the cost and labor of fixing it and want it to last as long as possible.

They may seem okay but can still build pressure. I thought mine was okay when it popped up and down and when it started leaking immediately after i replaced all the seals i got fed up and took all the vents off and no more leaks :D
This is how my A2 is. It had a few drips from the seals sometimes but on the hot days is when the wheels would get drenched in gear oil and I had to break it down at that point. I've noticed the hubs run way hotter on the hot days too.
If you've driven stick before it won't be hard to get used to driving a deuce. I learned to drive stick on a deuce :-D Just remember to shift slowly and smoothly with these transmissions.
