I have been used to being ripped off at the hardware stores for grade 8 bolts but just on a whim, I went to Tractor Supply Company and got grade 8 bolts, nuts and washers for $3.99 per POUND, regardless of the size. So instead of giving a buck or two for EACH bolt, get them by the pound for TSC.

Other hints when drilling/ grinding out rivets. First, center punch the rivet good and deep. Then drill about 3/4" deep with a 1/4" drill bit. Then use either a 11/32" or 1/2" (depending on rivet size) drill bit to complete the drilling. Get a punch that is mostly destroyed anyway and drive...
