I want to tow my Corvette with my Deuce... Suggestions?

Oh, congrats on successfully exiting your Navy Career. I'll raise a glass to that!

    Pick a M35A3

My assumption is you are using it for a fire truck with tank, hose, etc. With that assumption, I'd go M35a3 dropside. Check your pricing, you may find an a3 with winch then selling the winch won't net you much versus buying a m35a3 w/ow. But like Derrickl112 says, we'd need more details, like...

I want to tow my Corvette with my Deuce... Suggestions?

I'm going with Gimpyrobb and Darwin T on this one, with one small modification. Your deuce is probably going to be kicking up some debris while driving, you might want to consider an enclosed trailer. That is assuming you don't want to put miles on the Vette and have someone else drive. I'm...

    injection pump rebuild kit?

Ok, I'll bite. Why would you get a complete gasket set when all you need is the three new O rings? (Insert Groucho Marx look here) P.S. in a more serious note, what size are those three O rings? That seems like a good item to keep with the truck.....

    First Deuce, need some help

Hey ClintA, Congrats on the deuce! Ya, it sounds like your lock switch might be frozen. Soaking it in diesel might free it up, if it's corroded, but I'd bet it's mechanically broken since the other switches move, and if it was THAT corroded, I doubt they would. Ok, quick check for you. You...

    Budd nut from ****

Oh, I feel your pain. On the F-4 we had a 8 foot bar with a 1"socket setup on the end for tightening the wing pylon. It just doesn't seem right when you have three guys walking a wrench around to tighten a bolt. Ok, not that I WANT to say this, but I have had the joy of trying to remove a...

    Hello from Michigan

Yup, love my 109. Yep, firefly and starwars fan, but who isn't? Yep, did the same thing you are doing and even downloaded the manuals from the same site. Word to the wise, your downloads may slow down, or even stop partway through. I just restart them the next day. If you're geeky, I can...

    Hello from Michigan

LOL... so, I'm not even a master, but there are a few Yoda's here that have helped me. So let me welcome you. Welcome. How tough are they? Marines drive them. (just a little biased here.) What that really means to me though isn't that Marines are the toughest (Don't get me started!), but...

    Copper Coat headgaskets?

I've been using copper coat for 30 years or so. I've never had a gasket leak with it, and it always was easier to remove than with it than without it. It's something my dad as a diesel mechanic swore by, which was not the normal swearing he did. He was the one who told me it wasn't that you...

    Hello

Welcome to the party. Your're in the right spot, check out the new members section for things that may apply, and I enjoyed reading about GL auctions. It's information overload, but when I bought mine, it was exactly what I needed. BadMastard

Armed Forces Day Ft. Lewis May 21

Sorry I'm missing this! I'm about a month out (or less hopefully) of being in Graham Washington, right next to Ft Lewis. Just waiting for the right job to come along. Enjoy the day, gentlemen. BadMastard

M35a1,Lack of Power and No Smoke from Exuast!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Hammerdown, I'm pretty sure you already checked this, but if your filters are new, and staying clean, and it runs, but no power, did you check the in tank pump? Clogged, hose loose, things like that keep showing up on posts. If your filters were cruddy, it might be the source. For my...

    Which tent would you recommend?

All good ideas. If you were thinking custom, there is a place in Salt Lake City called the Tentman. Hope there makes custom tents and covers for everything from boats to airplanes. Might be worth checking out. She doesn't claim anything is zombie proof though, she knows zombies all too well...

    Fuel Problem On Deuce

I don't know if this is common, but a few weeks ago, I foolishly ran mine out of fuel. I refilled the tank, checked the in tank pump which was working, checked the shutoff, which was working, and wouldn't start. I checked the filters, and they had fuel all the way to the final. I cracked the...

dual brakes or split brakes on an M39 5-ton

Good point. I haven't worked with a lot of dual rear axles so there may be quite a bit more stopping power there than other brakes. Although I think they have to be weight loaded for that to work. My guess is the front load up on an empty truck. I think the easy way to tell is do the front...

dual brakes or split brakes on an M39 5-ton

This is a fascinating idea. Ok, with most braking systems the primary stopping power is the front brakes, I think about 70/30. What if you took the two circuits and put the front on one, and both backs on the other? You'd lose capacity, but it would ensure even braking?

Taking a m109a3 to Seattle from SLC.

Not a lot of room in the 109 since it's our moving truck, but can tow something perhaps. Leaving the 9th, truck stays in Seattle, arriving approx 11th.

    My first MV- m109a3

Update- New Pyro Meter in and running.-- What I see now... 3-400 degrees at idle 7-900 degrees at 55 mph level road 9-1000 degrees at 55 on 2-3% incline for brief periods. 1100 was the top so far for a couple of seconds under load and uphill. I might have to turn the fuel screw back a little...
