He was a kind and generous man. On several occasions he checked over our truck while we waited for the EUC to clear. It was never an imposition, and he was great to talk to about the hobby and life. When I picked up mine, I returned the favor and checked his.
He was cautious and well...
Success! The belt is a 65 inch 7 rib serpentine belt. Couldn't find one at any of the local parts store, but they did have a water pump belt.
Ok, the short story. After having the serpentine and the water pump belt break, the engine vented a little Coolant. We had a place to pull off the...
Welcome to the party! Yep, call alex. He rescued us again last night with a replacement alternator. I have decided I'm not going to drive from SLC to Seattle anymore, every time one of my MV's get's close to alex, it breaks. I think they just like hanging out with his herd.
Sound familiar? Yes, it's me again, and I lost my serpentine belt. Trying to find equivalent auto parts belt if possible. Internet sketchy, please call me if you have an answer at 801 721 4791. Also lost nut on alternator, and key. If you can provide size and threading, that would be awesome!.
I drove a 70 m109a3 ldt whistler to Seattle from Salt Lake City. When I started the trip, I was running about 8mpg. The further I went, the better the mileage got. By trips end I was at 10 mpg, and I'm running singled out 11's all around. My two cents was the motor just gets better as you...
Do you know how I could tell my truck was from california? It had a beautiful hunter 30,000 btu heater that was disconnected.
Now that the truck is moving to Seattle, where heaters and very importantly defrosters are a must, I find I must reconnect the heater. I can re run heater hose to...
Hey Mudguppy- good point. The point to keeping the wheelbase long is to keep the bed intact. But you have a good point.
91w350- Glen,
Heck, I sort of lost me in translation too. What I was trying to say is you probably aren't overloading the springs, because you subtract the weight of the...
Hey Glen,
Ok, here's what I'm thinking. Your front weight at 6800 is probably correct and ok if you remove the unsprung weight of 1800 or so pounds from your axle. Same for the back I think, only double. which means the spring weight is probably about 7000 total. Someone correct me if I'm...
Tough crowd! but funny. Ok, so far the consensus seems to be best location is where the axles pivots are to maintain the closest to correct geometry. So my next question is, what would be the downside of placing it where the rearmost axle is now. Longer driveshaft for certain, but does that...
Not to hijack the thread, but let's imagine I want to keep the full bed length too, BUT i can change to the front springs from a deuce with the plates and bolts and all. My questions are this. Can I keep the current drive shaft and leave the mid axle where it it, OR can I lengthen the drive...
Hey Shannon,
Just for grins, see if your steering box has any lube in it. Mine was starting to stick and when I opened the top, it was bone dry. 2 qts of gear oil later, with a little marvel mystery oil, and my steering was happy again. Might be worth a try?
Noaccount,
You're welcome, nothing owed. Plus meeting silverstate55 and planting the seed for two more future SS members was totally worth it. Silverstate55 did a lot! His description of what we looked at was absolutely accurate. He really didn't need my advice, it was all refresher for...
Well, the long awaited Nellis Photo shoot, starring Three, count em Three deuces. Ok, the A2 is Noaccounts, looking good! The green a3 is shootingiron, and the tan one belongs to us. Also, a sneak peak at my girl in a flight suit. Go air force!
Thanks! The mounts are the rear deuce mounts. I lucked out that the only piece of steel they had in the right size was powder coated green. One more pic!
Ok, the mostly finished product is up! Bumper even has a winch mount point. Grade 8 bolts all around and two freshly primered shackle and mounts. Thanks for all the suggestions, I went with making it look more deuce like, because who doesn't love that!
Wilber I'm going to have to disagree with you. Ranch is a WAY better dressing.
WSucougarx, Although lots of people have tire bounce, I will have to say that I don't. There may be a couple of factors involved. I have 11's in stead of 9's on it, I've singled out the rear tires, and I run about...
