That is one long haul. I was stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station from '83 to '86 and drove over to Moses Lake, Spokane, and Kettle Falls with my best Navy buddy.
Well, it was a cas of not enough gear lash. A few gaskets from Napa (Fel Pro 55379 or Victor Reinz H26205) to give it some clearance and she shifts like new again!

I doubt that the coil is inside the distributor. The condenser might be, but not the coil. The coil is exactly that, a coil of wire, generally several hundred feet long wound in a large coil about the size of a energy drink can. It
A big part of selling the KH to India would also mean selling them airplanes. IIRC, the US government is practically giving the KH away in order to make those aircraft sales (and munitions and parts and everything else that goes with it.)

Sure, no problem at all. Just power across the "low" side battery (the one connected directly to ground) and you don't have to isolate the DC- wiring from ground. I would put in a switch to disconnect the 12v power when not in use. Be sure to get...
