I paid 800 for one and 900 for the other, both were not running, need some body work, and they need constant mechanical work, but I drive both of them daily (when there not broke down).
I think the turbo 400's were rated for 15,000 GCVW, and 350 HP, so the 6.2 and the trailer your towing shouldn't break the trans, I think you will be fine. My dad had a 454 with the turbo 400 and we pulled over 20,000 GCVW (truck, trailer and load) all the time with out any issues.
Yup all NP205's had PTO ability. As for an update, project was finished in the late summer, the owner of the truck loves his lower first gear and the overdrive, "70 is a lot quitter" he told me a few weeks after I completed it. He also likes the NP205 for its strength and the PTO option. He...
Got the front king pins and knuckles off today, wasn't to bad. No where near how bad I have heard other guys have had, everything came right off fairly easily. Now tomorrow I will remove front axle and finish the tear down, taking axle of suspension will make it easier to work on, plus I will...
A NP205 that came off a turbo 350 will work with the 700r4, must do 2 of 3 things first though. First will need a 2 inch spacer, here is two places that have them, Offroad Design - Fullsize Chevy GM 4x4 Suspensions, Parts and Performance and A & Reds . Then one of these 2 things will work...
@ sandcobra164 and bshupe, will need a tv cable bracket, they don't make these any more so will have too find one in a junkyard or make one, there is a pic on this thread. will need a tv cable rod, this hooks onto side of pump/throttle linkage and connects to tv cable at the back of motor. I...
lowering the case makes the rear single u-joint less likely to bind, the front shaft has a CV-joint (2 u-joints together) can handle steeper angles without binding. When I did my 8 inch lift the rear drive shaft would bind, so I lowered it 2 inch's, rear shaft quit binding, never had a binding...
I use a zero start 1500 watt tank style circulator pump, it flows coolant through the pump/heater then through the engine on to the radiator then the heater core and back to the pump/heater. If I have the defroster lever open it keeps the window clean from snow and frost and keeps engine/heater...
The stock mounting sleeves are on the top of frame from factory, take those sleeves and put on the bottom of frame between the cross member and the frame, install bolts. This will drop T-case about 1 inch, should be enough, if not here is a place to get it a little lower. Skyjacker Suspension...
What is wrong with what I paid? Snap-on is made in U.S. and it has a life time warranty. So I'm supporting American workers and if it ever brakes I can get a new one for free. The tools at the napa store near me are made in Taiwan, and they don't have any kind of warranty.
Harmonic balancer has been clanking for a couple of weeks now so I finally got a new one. Took the whole front of engine area apart to replace, went very smoothly so I put everything back together. Started truck up to test it out and warm up for an oil change, things sounded a lot better...
I just fell off my chair from laughing! Sorry to hear about your foot.......since you won't be able to work on your truck for awhile, you can ship that ord lift kit to my house and I will keep it for you on my truck.:-P
Don't sell, you will probably regret it later, just walk away from it for a week or two. My 1008 front axle went bad over the summer, very discouraging but I walked away from it for awhile and now I am starting too slowing fix it. I know I will be very happy to be driving it again soon. Just...
I agree with Dstang97, yes they are a downgrade, but I agree with Recovry4x4 in that there are a lot of aftermarket companies and parts to build these transmissions up for a very inexpensive price, there is a company out there that has one of these (700r4) behind a 5000 lb. truck running 9 sec...
ODdave there are several ways to have overdrive and lock up work. First off the first three gears are all hydraulic just like the turbo 400, overdrive and lockup are controlled electric over hydraulic. A two way hydraulic switch can be put into the governor port that is set too go off at about...
