Yes joe. we do. I've been doing it purly as a money savings. Waste motor is usally free. And burns quite well. Diesel is about $3.05 a gallon here. Your right you should filter it as much as possable. If you look in this alt fuel forum you'll see alot of conversations about it. And how some guys...
It's not going to start when the temps drop. I don't know how cold it gets there but try adding small amounts with diesel. untill you are comfortable with the way it runs. I had to use starting fluid at about 45 deg. And i have never tried strait motor oil. If your going to burn a complete tank...
There are one hole and two hole injectors. As far as adding the turbo. I beleve you need to adjust the timing. It will run a little smoother once you do.
Lamp oil is pretty close to kerosene. witch will work well. Colman fuel Or white gas or mogas will work but i'd cut it with some motor oil. It's pretty dry as far as lube goes.
WMO will give you a fight when tring to start a cold engine. I expermented with about 70% last spring. It was about 45 here. Witch is really cold for SE TEXAS. It didn't want to start. It tried and would stall. A quick shot of starting fluid got it running. It ran pretty bad at first. I figured...
The bottle looks like a small fire ext. But it has a nitrogen cartrage with it. The nitrogen looks just like a c02 cartrage that you would use for a pellet gun. Any way. It was intended for the operator to be able to decon the vehicle somewhat after an NBC attack. A decon unit would do a much...
I've heard it was toxic stuff. The kits i have are empty. I wanted to learn more about the stuff. I'm just leaving them empty for my displays. They stay in the holders mounted in the trucks.
I'll snap some pics if the setup this weekend when i go down there. The biggest problem i had with the install was the fit and finish of the parts. Banks didn't deburr anything.
Your cooler lines must be different than mine. Mine have plenty of clearence between the elbow and the cooler lines. At least 2 inches. As far as the turbo goes. If it has the blue tag on the bearing housing the clearence or end play to u can feel should be .015" Any more then .017 and you'll...
I dumped 20 gallons on a almost empty tank one night. I couldn't get diesel in a small town i was in. The truck ran ok but it got horrable milage. It lost some power. But never skipped a beat. I filled up with diesel when i got to the next town.
The orignal fording kit runs the slobber tube up to the same hight as the snorkle. You have to drill a hole in the side panel for the hose to fit through.
Humm wonder how much they want for one? I'll think i'll stick to getting bad engines from GL and taking off parts i need. Saved alot of money that way!!
I got 14 once. It was comming back from palestine texas. Running 45MPH empty. I have airshift and lockouts on the front. Last time i checked i got 12 on houston freeways running 50-55. On #2 diesel. 10% WMO is good for 1MPG better. In my tests. But it's easier for me to check milage from the...
