Do any of ya'll that run mil chains ever run chains on the inner rears?
(when running duals) The BII for the trucks only calls for 6 chains.
To follow the post, chains will beat any tires, for mud, snow or ice..
Electric fans work, I have been running a 21" 24v fan for 5 years now on Squirt. Only issue is at high engine speeds the temp will climb to high and I have to reduce RPM. Heavy loads and heavy pulls are no problem at lower RPM like 2200.
I have the plan for an adapter to install a...
In Georgia, if used in commerce, a vehicle or combination vehicle over 10,000# is a CMV. (As of last Tuesday last week directly from the training officer.) CDL requirement is 26,001, class A or B depending on if you pull a trailer. Commercial or Non-Commercial, again "if used in commerce".
Welcome from another Georgia boy.
coming fro the south you may get a chance to hook with a convoy of some of the Florida boys, (and girls). The rally is a must, lotsa good people and a change to let the trucks do what they were intended to do.
Shesh, another Georgia boy....COOL...Welcome to the green disease, tell us about your ride(s).
You will not find a better group that the SS family.
Isn't being at the Georgia rally now a requirement?????
A 10k winch on a 2-1/2 will get it out of anything up to axle deep. IF properly and safely used.
These winches will easily out-perform an electric winch with a rating 50% greater.
We identify the sprag case as "on demand" because no torque is sent to the front axle, unlike either the full time, until traction demands the front to pull. The sprag case has many advantages in severe off road application in addition to the hard surface use.
To address the original...
I agree, with PROPER installation torque and a proper re-torque at the first filter change leaking does not seem to be an issue.
Sure do like that oil pressure in <5 seconds....
900 series axles use wedge lock actuators and they are maintenance intensive and not nearly as predictable as "S" cams. The hydraulic 800 series are just fine with enough boost.
The bed tie downs, at least the ones on your truck have been added either by the unit or at overhaul. My M54 has the added tie downs from the overhaul in 91. The outside lashing hooks are for the cargo cover as stated.
Newer beds have the internal tie downs installed as part of the bed build...
Yes, Just like Bjorn said. The oil then goes directly into the oil cooler and then into the channels of the block. Because the filters feed from the outside into the center they drain back to the sump when the engine is not running. Otherwise they (the filter cannisters) would remain full and...
How many tires do you need?
I have a buddy that has roughly 20 that were 90% or better, I think several were on wheels.
I will contact him and see if he still has them and for how much.
All good advice, it is roughly the same as the 2-1/2, just larger. The big deal is properly shimming the PTO to the transfer. It is all the "little pieces" that make it a pain.
