That is kind of cool country too, as is KS/OK/CO...
The deuces are really slow as a tow rig and they lack a lot on creature comforts. If you do not mind rain and snow inside the cab, driving 50ish mph, and wearing ear plugs or muffs, and lots of maintenance.... You might be a candidate. Glen
I have not found anything yet that my Multifuel can beat.
Oh, you are talking as a deuce power plant. You have to admit a M35A2 is not very speedy... 8)
Welcome from Kansas. I have been to the Springs many times, beautiful part of the state. We had family that lived there, later I started running over to Buena Vistea every chance I got. The drive west from the Sprins to Buena Vista is awesome! I am past due for another trip! Glen
I agree..... find somebody to give you a ride.
You could turn off your current heating system or set it on low, have a shop govern your truck sown to 52 mph and then program the fueling to give you around 160 horsepower. Next you could go get a set of military tires and compress your...
As long as you do not crowd them for too much speed, a M1008/M1028 makes a mighty fine daily driver/work pickup. We really enjoy ours! Welcome to the forums and congrats on the new truck!
Never filled a five ton tank, but would guess they are 80 to 100 gallons. I will take a look and see how hard it would be to mount. I thought about hanging one on a deuce for those longer trips away from the scrap yard fuel.
I have some nice five ton fuel tanks, no deuce tanks though. I would offer you a free one. Want to step up to a larger tank? Might give them a bigger target....
Detroit did pour a lot of money into development of the engines. They could not withstand high rpm continuous running. The main bearing webbing cracked and the bearings got loose. They tried a new alloy block for the 6.5 engines, thinking that would solve the problem. It did not. At the time...
Thanks guys! The Madmachinist has a son named Johnny who is a deuce addict and very observant. He is an energetic young man and is willing to jump in and help. He would rather work on a deuce or ride in a deuce than ride in a fancy Dodge pickup. It is no secret that I love kids. I will go out of...
Your math is very bad, the engine was designed to run around 1800 to 2200 rpm. They left the governors open to get decent pulling out of the wide spread in transmission ratios. They never intended for the engines to run on the governor like a lot of engines can. They were built as a fuel economy...
Check the spring mounts, lift the truck by the frame or front bumper and check for movement in the mount and spring eyes. Also check the U- bolts on the front axle....loose or broken crossmembers or bumper mounts. The list is long unless you can isolate it.
