The OD trans came in the 800 series trucks with the 250 NDC engine. The bellhousing looks the same , And i think it would work. I was thinking of putting one in mine so i could run 60MPH when bobtailing. I don't think the multi has enough power to run in OD while loaded. The direct drive tranny...
I installed a squeeze primer bulb on mine. I got it from wal-mart for $5. That way i can open the bleeder and squeeze the bulb by hand to pump fuel. It's a lot easier on the starter and batteries.
I think it's worth it. Having the 5th wheel and parts is a real plus too. The direct tranny is the correct one for the multi M52. The axle ratio is 6.44 instead of 6.72 like the M35's. So you'll be able to do 55MPH with the 11.00-20 tires.
I too am intrested in one of these. Do you know how much? Are they in working condition?
Kenny do you think it's the same engine in the 3KW diesel genset?
I drove all they way there a few years ago on vacation. Just to see it. They had it in the back restoring it. Where you couldn't see anything under some tarps. I had to sneek around a baracade and lift a tarp to see it. It was still worth it!
How many feet of cable are sopposed to be on the M35's winch? Mine looks like it could take a lot more. Anybody know a good place to get new winch cable?
Boyce equipment sells the bell housing for chevy to the 3053A tranny. If i rember right. they have the motormount kits too. I beleve they have done quite a few conversions. Problem is they drink a lot of gas!
Besides normal hand tools. I bring 2, 20 ton bottle jacks. And my tire hammer/breakdown bars. Some spare tubes/flaps. I've hade more than one flat at a time. 2 jerry cans with diesel.I'm tring to find a place to put 2 more jerry cans. And 2 gallons of oil. 2 gallons of antifreeze. All three fuel...
Jon, Are you sure you wouldn't like to fix that one up? Mabye someone could get you a cab/fenders from howards before they are all gone. It's so different it looks like it would be a fun project. IMHO. How fast would it go? I know 6-71's will turn a lot of RPM's that thing should fly!
I use glass beads with great results. The main reason i use glass beads is that's what we use at work and i get to use the blaster and primer for free. The beads will remove rust and not make a lot of heat. You really have to stay in one spot to get the metal to deform.
I don't think i'd turn up the fuel much with out a turbo. Espacilly if you don't have a pryo. Do you have a airshift T-case? If so, lockout hubs helped my seat of the pants acceleration. They are not cheap though. Is it cold enough up there to take your fan off?
