If some shop monkey ran those lugs on with a big impact wrench, you can make a pretzel out of the original bar and still need a breaker bar. You need something long enough and strong enough for a big man to jump up and down on the end of..... mine is a 1" drive 42" long bar and I wish it was...
Hey Jay!
My new axle seals came in, you could always come up here and get a quick refresher in a simpler truck! I have a pair of leaking axle seals to fix on my 71. The 68 is still embarrassed about how fast you drove away from her. 8) Glen
You also mentioned you wanted an LDS engine, that will really narrow down the number of available trucks. Most are LDT 465 powered. I would not mind getting a non-turbo LDS engine myself, for most of my driving, waiting for the turbo to cool down is more of a nuisance than the benefit the turbo...
That is a whole lot of push for a guy that is not ready to buy until tax time. The market is probably going to change a lot by then. I have noticed them going up steadily the last few months as the numbers available decline.
I am not knocking your methodology, but to post that many times that...
Jeff, I have one of those little Makita grinders and a bunch of cut off disks if you want to trim your cable with it. It will zip through cable pretty quickly. Glen
Low range low gear is the correct selection for climbing up on the upper deck of a stepped deck trailer, especially if towing another dead deuce behind you. Thanks Troy for the new life lesson...

That box almost needs yard lines... with that much tail overhang, a guy has to be careful about tail swing when close to other vehicles or objects. When I worked for Pepsi, my route truck had three bays behind the duals. It was easy to grind on docks and tall curbs with it. One of those would be...
If he is available and you have a few bucks, find Gimpy Robb and hire him for the day. He is in your area and knows these trucks as well as anybody here. I cannot set a rate for him, but if it were me in your shoes, I would much rather have him along than worry about a wrecker. Chris has helped...
Nice looking rig Angus, I would try the filters, they are cheap enough. That is one thing I have noticed through the last 15 or so A2s that I got running, there is a huge difference in power among trucks. My original 72 was much stronger than any I have driven since. We have a 71 that starts and...
Five out of the last nine deuces I picked up needed work to roll or stop on their own. Three were not repairable for the average guy on site or roadside. Who carries a new fuel tank on a recovery? I got them all out of there with my deuce or one of the deuces I was picking up. Glen
Five ton has the same cab, you are bobbing, so the length is up to you. The five ton is a few inches wider and a lot heavier. They have some serious iron deposits in their differentials!
That they are! Are you still interested in a weekend trip to Dodge or Medicine Lodge? I have weekends off for the last three weekends in October. It would be fun to make a cool weather run to St Jacob's Well or the Big Basin.
