Just a thought but if your harness is toast you might see if you can get hold of the scrapper that Roady got the 003 with the locked engine from. Maybe he would sell the wiring harness for a decent price.

You don't need any loctite on the seal to retainer interface. I used #2 permatex on the seal to retainer interface and on the edge of the retainer where it seats into the axle housing. Used gaskets and #2 permatex on the axle flange. 2cents
Staying with the "air intake " idea is the control on the filter set for summer or winter ?. When it is running does it sound like it is under a lot of load, slowly dieing or just all of the sudden stopping.
My M103A2/105 has a different style application chamber for the master cylinder and has the recessed hub covers. That newer style chamber for the master cylinder makes it easy to get and change the diaphragm. Mine also has the reservoir tank.
