Excellent Pete! I got my CTIS working too on my 936A2, I had no red dots at all, no cycling either. Mine turned out to be a bad solenoid on the pneumatic controller. Testing the pins for continuity was easy enough. I also got a hold of the speed signal generator mine was missing. I swapped out...
A little off topic Csm Davis, what's the top speed on your 936A2, are they geared different than the other A2's? I can't get mine above 53MPH. Maybe i need to change the filter, mine only has the small filter on the engine btw, doesn't look like it ever had the big filter mount..
I've gotten to checking pins B-D on the pneumatic controller and I'm not getting continuity, A-E and A-F have continuity. Does this mean the middle solenoid is bad? I took the cover off, all the wires look good from the pins to the magnets, pins are all good. WOOHOOO! I decided to switch out...
Did you have any red lights at all when yours wasn't functioning? I don't get any red lights or cycling, the ECM box is good as I switched out a known good and tried that box in another truck. I hope mine is as easy fix as that!
I have two for you sir, wrecker and tractor which has 3 different serial plates:
Serial 1032AA026
Reg# NL0TUX
NSN 2320-01-230-0304
Bought Camp Ripley Little Falls, MN
No bumper numbers legible on this 1991 BMY M936A2 wrecker truck
There are actually three serial...
I'm so glad you painted that shield. i was so tempted to post something about the pink. While you're at it, I think I heard your wife saying something about the garage needing a coat of paint...... The eave anyway. :)
BTW did I tell you I'm envious?
Mine also shakes badly from 50-65, if i get at top speed it stops shaking.(think it reaches harmony with the world going fast?) It's so bad I had to wrap a strap around the spare tire holder nut to keep it from turning loose! TM's say Universal Joints lubricated? Then Propeller shaft flange nuts...
HA! I'm not into the mudding scene, but **** that was a cool video! What do they call those vehicles that look like the party barge in Return of the Jedi? They're pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Thinking they might have caged the brakes, one of the brakes was still caged. Not leaking air, so I assume yes assume the tower had them caged and forgot one.
Hey looks like the -23 supercedes -24...... Wierd, I just assumed the -24 was later than the -23! Looks like I'm over torqued!!!! And that guy was correct all along.
From the -23 TM:
*SUPERSEDURE NOTICE - This manual supersedes TM 9-2320-272-24-1, TM 9-2320-272-24-2, TM 9-2320-272-24-3, TM...
Good question, recently someone had a good writeup on something then noted the torque for the lugnuts at 325-350, I noted the manual I looked at -24 when torqing my A2 wrecker saying 450-500 and they came up with yet another at 400-450 or thereabouts...... I'd like to know which TM is correct too.
On another note Got my front winch working. The control for wind/unwind was stuck in the wind position. I still have a lot of trouble getting the clutch lever on the winch to move from in/out positions though. Any thoughts on that?
The fluid shows no sign of being cross contaminated, looks like nice clean dexron. Think I should still change back to oil? Seems to be shifting and running fine, as well as a 5 ton that weighs twice as much as a 5 ton normally does anyway :)
