In need of some input (first post!)

Six grand should get you a nice Deuce. Don't be real concerned with the turbo, the C will drive you out of the cab after awhile. You mentioned canvas which is rather rare, your better off with vinyl anyway, it will last a lot longer. Dig around the Classifieds here, you're bound to find...

    Deuce brake light issues

I don't think it needs to be running, but I do know you need air in the system for it to operate.

Where is the Vin# on my Deuce????

Previous owner removed and has data plate. OP just has a copier copy of the plate. I advised him in a PM to get the plate back, it belongs with the truck.

Where is the Vin# on my Deuce????

Why did the previous owner remove the data plate? It's part of the truck.

    24v relay

I've seen diodes on electric door strikes and solenoids to prevent "kickback", but I don't understand the purpose here.

    24v relay

Why would it smoke? Wouldn't it just not work if the polarity was incorrect? Also OP, make sure the relay is DC, some relays are for AC circuits only. Make sure the contacts are rated for the load you wish to control. Watts divided by Volts = Amps.

    Deuce driving tips

You might want to think twice about that one. Looks like something you could impale yourself on should you slip off of the bumper or fender. A better idea is to get familiar with the vehicle and know how far the front end projects.

    Electric fan for Deuce

Please keep us in the loop, I know others have tried this but due to limited clearances, I don't think there has been any success.

    Help identifying parts

Ask your questions here, we may give you a tough time about perusing the TM's and using the search feature, but the chances of getting smoke blown up your fanny will be alleviated.

Oooops, blew right over that M number. They'll still want to look at the wipers though. :-P Note to self: See Optometrist.

Virginia state safety inspection - what do they look for?

Don't know for sure, but I'd be willing to bet they will want you to pump the brakes until the low air warning buzzer comes on. They will want to see at what PSI it comes on, and then turns off. Lights, wipers, and horn will be most likely the other equipment they'll want to poke their nose...
