I used a pressure washer ( 4000psi) on both my deuces chassis and drive gear then primed and painted them, I did take a DA all the sheetmetal and did some extra sanding on the rusty brakes drums, Trucks came out fine. You can click on my link below and see them ( M-45A2 & also M-35 Kaiser )...
I also have a 003A
But I always felt a tri-fuel genset would be nice, it would give the the option of burning gasoline,LP or NG or even one that just runs on LP., You would never have to worry about old gas in the tank or carb and storing/buying LP is not a problem
It has to be doing something to the oil pressure relief valve
Think about it
You have your ( unrestricted ) full flow filter is tapped off the high pressure oil galley and dumping back into the pan, if it wasn't for the oil pressure reg in the way ( #32 in picture ) then all you had accomplished...
What did you do for a metering hole in the new filter mount??, The center post in the bypass filter has a VERY small metering hole/orifice to prevent oil pressure loss from the main oil galley where it tapped off of. If you don't have any kind of metering device ( flow restricter ) than you left...
I did mine as a precaution being when I bought my deuce there was gobbs of rtv hanging out of the OC cover which made me suspicious enough to open it up and redo it right to which I'll probably never have to mess with it again
On a 230ci (mil and civie)
The oil only gets filtered when the oil pressure goes over 45psi
The Bypass oil filter "return" line ( #28 in pic) is plumbed into the pressure relief valve and it opens only when OP is at 45psi, below 45psi the oil dead heads at the valve .
Keep the oil changed every couple of thousand miles and don't worry about it., However there was a guy a few years back on the PW forum ( Dodge Power Wagon Forum #346 ) that blocked off the discharge side of the external oil pump ( piece of sheetmetal gasket ) he then tapped the discharge side...
Well
I'm about 19 miles west off exit 205 & I-75 ( zip 30205) if you start heading back and have problems you can drop it off here. Its a little off the beaten path but It'll be safe...that is unless your truck has a nice cargo top:mrgreen:
OK
Had lots of box steel laying around so instead of paying $150 or so for a boarding ladder....and the fact I'm cheap!:-?..... Now if I could only knit then I'd have me a cargo top [thumbzup]
:ditto: civie dist & oil pump have a centered slot where they couple, some people just change out the mil dist to a civie and don't change out the oil pump which can be done but it gives the dist a noticable wobble.
Looks like someone swapped in a 251, fanblade is right up close to rad and tranny looks like a U.S.made New Process (see pic) not the " Acme" tranny that come in the CDN 37's.
Carb looks like the DTW1 type ( civi) carbs
I believe ser# starting with 800 of 802 are american vehicles. I checked your ser# and "if" it is a US built then your truck was made in Dec,1951. The first CDN 37's weren't made until Oct,1951 ( your engine was built a year earlier??) and as zak stated the ser#'s started with 9. If you have a...
Acually its 188ft/lbs @ 1200rpm's which is impressive for that little flathead.
A buddy of mine has a 251ci in his 37 and boy what a difference in performance
The Military 230ci in the m-37 is rated at 94bhp @ 3200rpm ( taken right out of the TM 230ci rebuild manual)
I don't think trading to 66hp diesel which is probably governed at 2700rpm will cut it..but I've been wrong before
