Take a spare tire or two, just borrow them if you can. I have noticed some badly rotted tires on M1009s. If you have a friend in the transmission or salvage business, take the front yoke for the rear driveshaft with you. Tools to pull the rear shaft. Some kind of tail lights if the rented...
He says I came along to help him, but he did all the techno stuff! He tore into the fuel pump like he knew exactly what he was doing! He showed me how to use the compressor wrenches too! Awesome, I will know when I need to do mine! I had a good time and it was really nice to meet Zac, I am glad...
That area is beautiful and loaded with history. I will have to see how my schedule works out, I would love to attend. For those who have not been in the area, the fountain below sounds like gunfire at times, I about jumped out of the cab of my old M1008 when I was there in it.
A little FBI...
They should be home any minute, I keep hoping for a "We made it" text, but this old man has to go to bed. That 0500 stuff is rough low on sleep. Hopefully they are home and showing off now.... Glen
Two hours ago he was crossing into Texas, that should have left him with a little over 211 miles to home. He definitely has this one on the downhill run. It will be interesting to see the photos and hear the story. Due to the headlights going out on dim, he has to quit before dark....hopefully...
They were westbound from OKC at noon, filling up with fuel on I40 at the T/A Truck Plaza. He said he has been running around 2300 and 53 mph. The truck has new Titans on the ground, that sounds fast compared to my 2200 at 45ish, but I never checked mine my gps. No phone calls or texts asking...
Dr. Greg is correct, the oil light for sure comes on until oil pressure comes up. The low coolant light might be on a test circuit, I would have to go start one. The wait light is not for the alternators, it is the glow plug system. I would rather run a single aluminum or fiberglass flex fan...
I think he is into it for around 2,000, I bid on it early and got sidetracked, I could go back and look. He got a very nice truck mechanically, a diamond in the rough. It is much better than initial appearance would lead one to think. Glen
I figured I would get it home, my first stop was going to be an auto parts store to find a belt I could barely stretch over the crank and fan pulleys, buy two of them and head on home. It was cool enough and I was going to be moving, I really did not need the fan, if I had to, I could have...
I am not sure what it is about going to get the unknown truck, but I sure enjoy working on them and getting them rolling. I had a blast! Even if my truck got a little sick, I am sure it will make a miraculous recovery soon.....
