Need another my deuce got me home story?

Congrats on your new recovery, I could not resist, I had to drive it a few times broken. I better get a second deuce in case something major takes mine down!

Del City, OK Armed Forces Parade 2011

I am not going to make it, I about got the sewer done, enough to sneak by, but my Buddy's funeral is Saturday. Hoping for next year, I made a mad run at this year and failed. Glen

San Antonio Ft Sam Houston Recovery Complete!!

How was the transmission level? Sounds like I missed another fun round! Wish I could tag along for the bobbing operation, be a good learning experience. I would like to do one for myself. How high are you going to put the bed? After looking at all the different photos, I like the ones that the...

    Ready to laugh then cry?

Selectro was the only one making lockouts. I would encourage you not to try welding the rear gears. The Detroit conversion is cheap in comparison to most Detroits. Try Randy's Ring and Pinion, they were the cheapest when I did mine.

    Ready to laugh then cry?

I would not bother trying to run the 230, the original transmission or transfer case. They are primitive and the engines are prone to failure. Glen

    Ready to laugh then cry?

They are probably 5.89 gear ratio. You will have a tough time finding an easy solution. As for the strength of the axles, they were very reliable, even with 40" rubber and 8.000 pounds on board. We ran them for several years with V8 power in the rocks on good tires and never broke one. They are...

    The Dead Rekoning, my M35A2.

If you are married or have a significant other, do yourself a favor and wash your gear oiled clothing at the laundry mat. The Mrs does not complain about much, but her clothes smelling like gear oil for a couple of washes will get her wound up. I just kill an hour checking the truck over while...

    Something hinky on GL today

I am getting weird searches as well. I just did a M35A2 search and they all sold in April. Odd....

New Guy in our nations's capital

I hope you enjoy it! I like your dog! Welcome from Kansas..... Glen

    The Dead Rekoning, my M35A2.

If it dries up on the tire on its own, it is probably a brake cylinder. If it stays wet and keeps accumulating more drip lines it is probably an axle seal. The way it is running in one narrow spot without a bunch of other splatter would have me checking brakes. That is a very nice looking...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I towed my M1009 home after it died. My son said it just quit, I have fuel to the filter, it spins but does not sound like the injectors are getting fuel....not enough time to look further. I fueled my M1008 for the first time since April 5th. He is driving it now, so I am sure the fuel will go...

Trip to Minnisota to get my M1008A1 and the drive back

You will probably go east of me both ways as taking the angle for Interstate 35 through Wichita to Kansas City is a lot shorter, but if for some reason you decide to truck west on 90, 80 and south on US81 or I135, give me a shout. Otherwise, be safe and have a good trip. Are you planning to...

Need another my deuce got me home story?

Thanks to Gimpy, the old girl is charging again, no belt squeal, a pair of new belts and a little time. I did drive it several times in between, a couple of times to work and for parts. I was suffering withdrawal.... I drive it almost every day, I had only missed two since February 8th, now I...

Del City, OK Armed Forces Parade 2011

Thanks to Gimpy, my deuce is running again and charging, no belt squeal.... life is good.... except that I have my lawn all torn up with a root plugged sewer problem. I was running the roto rooter and broke a T in the line, I had to dig up quite a bit to get to it. Now I have it temporarily...

    Anybody win at Ft Riley?

My neighbors got the slow break in. First it was a white M1008, then a yellow lime M715 that I painted back to green, then a red M715 joined the herd, the white M1008 got totaled. I sold the M715s and bought a green M1008, then a M1009, then a second M1009, then the deuce showed up and one of...

    72 M35A2 Recovery

I think Cookiemann was talking about how far he made it before his top tore. I know he ran at least six hours the first day. If one of these guys with lots of deuce time offers to ride along or convoy with you, it will be a great asset to your recovery. Just a little experience helps a lot! Glen

What size of tire is that? Looks like an old 16.5!
